Chock-full of hardcore rap songs with the occasional jazz rap tracks. Said jazz rap tracks are the highlights IMO, and while I do appreciate the hardcore rap songs, I just found the jazz ones so much better, making this album an inconsistent listen to me.

Alright here we are, Black Midi's second album. I'm not sure if I should've heard this before Hellfire, but I can't change the past anyway.
This is a far less intense album than Hellfire, and I definitely do enjoy it less, but it's still pretty extreme in its own regard. Still, this is a very enjoyable project , and it's something undoubtedly unique.
Ascending Forth is a gorgeous track, by the way. There's just something about it that speaks to me.

Pretty good, but kind of boring at times. The first half of this album (except for let it happen, I hate that song) is much better than the second half.
Favorites: The less I know the better, Gossip, The Moment, 'Cause I'm a Man

I grew up on blacks ops zombies. BO2 and BO3 were my childhood, plain and simple, and I always had the pleasure of hearing these songs play in the menu screen. They are, really, incredible. I'm talking about the easter egg teddy bear songs of course.
But the thing is that there aren't just "easter egg teddy bear" songs on the OST. Those songs make up about 5 of these tracks. The thing is that, a lot of these songs are actually chiptune arcade tracks from dead ops arcade. I never ... read more
Peak rap.
Flawless rapping, almost flawless beats.
A classic for a reason, I suppose, but god damn if those interludes aren't some of the most heinous things I've ever heard.
Favorites: Big Poppa, Machine Gone Funk, Warning, Ready To Die, Suicidal Thoughts, Unbelievable.
Least favorite: Juicy, Friend of Mine.
I'm a total sucker for medieval fantasy.
Yeah, I'll admit it. My favorite story ever- Re:Zero -is (essentially) a medieval fantasy story. Dark Souls is my favorite game franchise, and guess what the setting is for those games?
This album really caters to me. Not only because it has a medieval theme, not only because it executes it flawlessly with a psychedelic touch to it, but because it sounds phenomenal. Just, freaking, phenomenal.
I've been meaning to review this album for a while, but I had ... read more
Solid.
Weakest Tyler album from the 3 that I've heard, but god damn this is still great. The lush instrumentals do a LOT for me.
Favorites: WUSYANAME, Rise, Hot Wind Blows, WILSHIRE

I discovered this album a while ago. Had to add this artist to the website, cuz my god man this is good.
Psychedelic power pop is not something I needed in my life until I found this album. It isn't just power pop of course, it has some distinct rock moments (and some that are very close to being heavy metal on here, adding a nice bit of variety to this project. Couple that with the relatively short run time of this thing, and I doubt you'll find yourself bored listening to this.

Hidden masterpiece.
Power pop/piano rock masterpiece. There's so much to this album it's honestly shocking. Not only is it a really good break-up record lyrically speaking, but holy hell the songs are superb. I love this album, and you should absolutely check this out.
Favorites: Don't Call Me in the Morning, Bad With the Superbad, I Thought About It First

Many an album finds itself buried through the passage of time. This one seems to be a victim of that, and what a shame; a 90s surf rock album, and it's this impressive, too?
Well, what exactly is impressive about it? Listen to this thing and you'll notice that there are no vocals, and all the tracks consist of only two instruments: the electric guitar, and the drums.
But that's really all this album needs.
I thought Satana's guitar work was great. I thought Hendrix's guitar work was great. And ... read more
I'm here for one reason and one reason only: there is a Ween cover on this album.
Here's the best part: the cover is actually really good. Here's the even better part: the cover isn't the only good song on this album.
I really do like this album. I like how Sunny War gives every song its "moment", whether it be a solo, cool instrumentation, or unique songwriting quirks. It's a damn relaxing album while also having its great, more intense moments.

I truly do wish that Ween released these things on spotify. Even if it isn't a polished version or whatever, these demos are so damn good that I want them in any way.
Kim Smoltz is a fantastic track. They really should've added that to at least shinola vol1. Not sure why ocean man is void of the guitar solo but eh, it is what it is.
Favorites: Kim Smoltz, Did You See Me?,

Eh.
By no means a bad album, it had a very strong start and finish after all, but it was a bore throughout most of its runtime. Not for me I guess.

This is undeniably one of the coolest albums I've ever heard.
This album is some of the most impressive genre-hopping out there. Just to name a few songs on here, we've got: alternative rock, beach-boys-inspired pop tunes, prog rock, something akin to instrumental hiphop in mic check, and metal. The sheer technicality is jaw-dropping, yes, but the whimsy exuded from the sounds are as captivating as the orange beverage the cover makes me think of, and that's what truly sells the spectacle of ... read more
Not a terrible album by any means, but this is a much weaker project than the other 2 Santana albums I've heard. It still definitely has it's highlights, however, but it also has an equal amount of "meh".

Sadly, mostly not for me.
