Got boring for a while after track 2 but ain't it funny pulled me back. And then it got boring again... and then When it Rain came! And then the rest of this album was boring.
Yeah, this is mixed for me; this album has astronomical highs, but most of it is in this "meh" ground for me.

I've been meaning to listen to this for the longest time but only just now got around to doing it.
I think what makes this work so well is that it has more of a rock focus while still keeping a country attitude and instrumental/songwriting palate. This album wouldn't work if either side of this equation was missing, which really shows how genius this thing is.
I mean yeah this is amazing. Blew my expectations out of the water. It even almost jerked a few tears out of me. That's right, a ... read more
This shit was so bad I aged by 80 years. Now I have arthritis and can't stand on my two legs. Thanks, Mori Calliope.
This is the poppiest pop record I've ever heard.
Fun, if the bubbliness is a little unbearable at times. It has almost no real substance but it's not trying to have some anyway, it's just shit to dance to. It also does a great job of not overstaying its welcome. Overall, it's fine. Far worse second half, I'll say.
Favorite: Cult of Dionysus, Queen of White Lies.
Least favorite: Adrianne, We Are The Ones.
A perfect fusion of two genres I'm not crazy about, but generally like, turning them into something majestic.
Anyway, that being said, the sound of this album gets tiring after a while. It's repetitive, and it doesn't help that each song effectively only has one or two verses. The production is also a bit choppy, but that can be ignored for the most part.
No, what's special about this album is that despite these flaws, it's still great. The politically-charged lyrics turned me off at first, but ... read more

This is incredible rap. Though the beats are lackluster, they still get the job done, and the rapping itself is almost flawless (a few line deliveries were awkward for me). My biggest issue is that, for whatever reason, this album is censored. I don't get why. I really don't get why, it just makes the experience worse. My second biggest issue is that the songs are kinda similar-sounding, but the bars offset that, so it isn't ... read more
I think I should listen to more from these guys. There's something comforting about them. It's like you just know that THIS is true boomer old-school rock.
This album is solid. Overrated, but still pretty good. For every good track, there was one mediocre one, but nothing particularly bad. And there were a few amazing tracks. Nothing else to say aside from that I'm looking forward to more.
Glad I got this one on CD. It's gonna stick with me for a while.

This is pretty cool but I don't think it's anything special. It's weird, sure, but not any better for it. It just sounds like a worse version of Magical Mystery Tour. Had a few bangers. Had a chunk of duds. A fine album overall.
Favorites: Lucifer Sam, Flaming, Bike.
Least favorite: Astronomy Domine, Pow R. Toc H., The Scarecrow.
As a self-proclaimed fan of the tally hall, I had to come to this album sooner or later. I'm surprised to see how few ratings this thing has. In classic tally hall fashion, there's a hint of theatrics here (especially in the closing track), but it works well.
The most attractive thing about this album to me is the vocalist. He is good, damn good, something I always appreciate in a metal band. The second most attractive thing is absolutely the wide arrange of musical styles this album takes on. ... read more
This is a gorgeous album, but it's also surprisingly simple. Sadly a little too ambient for my liking, but still incredible nevertheless. It has that classic Fishmans magic hint to it. Such a melodic and calm album. It's amazing.
Favorites: Weather Report, Walking in the rhythm (this should've been the closing track), バックビートにのっかって (Back Beat Ni Nokkatte)

An hour of absolute agony.
Listen, there are things to like about this album, like the (SOMETIMES) unique instrumentals that pop up from here to there. I also like the (OCCASIONALLY) interesting song topics. But from the absolutely terrible lyrics and songwriting, the monotone and obnoxious vocals, to the very instrumentation I praised being utter duds on most of the tracks here, there is so much to dislike on this album that it trumps the one positive thing on here; Heart of the House. That is ... read more
This album made me feel epic. I haven't heard a folky approach to prog rock on my musical pilgrimage yet, so this really was a breath of fresh air. The flutes on this album went nuts, the acoustic guitars went nuts, the mellotron went nuts, the drumming went nuts, a lot of things went nuts. I even enjoyed the vocal performance.
Great album, 100% would recommend it.
Favorite: Part one
Haha, this is hilarious. I'm 50/50 on this tracklist but it was an enjoyable experience. The last quarter of this album went crazy.
Favorites: Pac Blood, XXX, DNA.
Least favorite: Lie4, Detroit, Adderall Admiral.
This is ridiculous. This is beyond ridiculous. This is so ridiculous I looked up synonyms for ridiculous just so I can say that this album is preposterous, outlandish, ludicrous, vacuous, and most definitely foolhardy.
It's also pretty boring. I mean I'm not sure what I expected, an hour long doom metal song that's basically the same few riffs over and over with the occasional change up that doesn't last long enough to really make an impact. There are a few great moment like this one awesome ... read more
Such loud, abrasive, intentionally poorly-produced music is, on paper, a terrible idea to make and release. But there's something magical about MBV, the way they take that idea and utilize it to create songs as fascinating as these.
Shoegaze isn't a genre that I'm particularly fond of. It's distorted, difficult to make the vocals out, messy, weirdly inconsistent in audio quality, this and that. It's all intentional of course, and I absolutely get the appeal of it, but I've never found myself ... read more
Let's be honest, this is jam band, but none of you want to admit it.
I wanted to like this album so much more than I do, but I cannot deny that this album drags. I liked the tunes but it definitely feels longer than it is. Still great though. Like, really good, it just has that one flaw holding it back for me.
There's not one bad song on this thing. I'd probably enjoy the songs on here a lot less without listening to them in succession.
I'll revisit this album in the future, no ... read more
Christ, what a slow burner. I only recently discovered what "Doom metal" is, and reading up on it I got really curious as to what it's all about.
I can confirm that this album is really good. And I mean it is good. It was a fantastic and unique experience the whole way through, like listening to a heavier post-hardcore album. I loved the slow but heavy approach it takes, and best of all, the vocals are actually really good. Usually, the biggest turn-off for me in metal music is the ... read more
The sound manages to be stripped back yet meticulous, going for a "quality over quantity" approach that makes every note and beat calculated and visceral. It's a masterpiece of songwriting and ESPECIALLY production. It is oozing with personality; I could imagine a novel being written about every narrator in these tracks. The writing is witty and memorable. I could quote this thing all day without it coming off as cheesy. With just a bit of bending, these lyrics can turn into words to ... read more
I should not have walked out of this album liking it
Much stronger second half. Overall charming and really good.
Edit: revisiting this album I realize that it is really only good for a first time experience. Apostrophe, Uncle remus, and maybe the first couple of tracks are worth coming back to.
