MJ Lenderman and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race... Fourth Street was a great single release so I popped this one on to kill some time on a drive- man, not only was it lazy- they could not seem to pick a lane on this project. Whoever wrote the lyrics for "Horse"... that is a crime all by itself.

Man, what a huge misstep in this discography. It's obvious that OK Computer left big shoes to fill but this is just a bad follow up to a universally loved rock record. I give it a bit of grace... It blends well track to track, has a very distinguished "vibe", and is getting out of their comfort zone of rock music which paved the way for much better Radiohead albums. What else can be said about OutKast? About Stankonia? For an album so fun and prolific- I think one of my only issues is that the first half of the album is just non stop in quality (and blends exceptionally well), where around past halfway it slows down. Not lesser in quality, but feels like a drop down from the back to back of the first half. This was my first Yo La Tengo album- I had always pushed them off to the side for other bands until this last year or so. It wasn't until I found this CD at my record store and shelled out the 5 bucks. Right time and right place my friends! I think for awhile this is what I had been looking for in a true early Indie rock album. Atmospheric, definitive of indie, and one that hold a kind of haunting, albeit, warm hug of a sound.
