Albums I need to listen to to finish the AOTY top 100 - #3

This is a great metal album. It is kind of frontloaded with the three main tracks all being in the first half of the album. However the album still manages to have some awesome riffs and lyrics even In the second half. It’s a very enjoyable metal album with some great tracks. While it is my least favorite of the three I’ve listened to so far I still had a lot of fun with it.

Jim Guthrie - Weightless: The Ambient Music of Planet Coaster

Would be higher if it didn’t have the shittiest pathing tool known to man

Albums I need to listen to to finish the AOTY top 100 - #2

Ok this was incredible. I haven’t gotten around to listening to Mj asides from the super popular tracks like thriller and smooth criminal. I always thought that the title of king of pop was well warranted but after listening to this album I can without a doubt say that he deserves it. This album has one of the greatest three song stretches of all time. Thriller is my favorite song on the album and is a great song for Halloween. ... read more

Thanks @Crowbat for the recommendation. I think the instrumental of this song was pretty good. Unfortunately the autotune kinda ruins it for me. I think if it was just his natural voice my rating would go up around 15 or 20 points.

Albums I need to listen to to finish the AOTY top 100 - #1

So I was a bit apprehensive to do this because there’s a lot of albums in the top 100 that I haven’t heard (a lot more than I expected) and the majority of them were either jazz (a genre I don’t really listen to) or soundtracks to things I haven’t seen/played. This happens to be both and it made me feel a lot better about this and I know I’m definitely gonna continue this. This was a fantastic first ... read more

Porter Robinson - SMILE! :D

It drags a bit in the middle of the album but I can definitely see why this is currently number one for this year, even if it probably won’t stay that way for too long

Aler Himself - Anything Helps No Drugs

Thanks @Delfiano for recommending me this. You did a great job on this album. I really enjoyed the production and it is very strong conceptually. You had some great flows too. I can definitely tell you have a lot of talent and I’m excited to see what you make in the future. As of right now this is definitely one of my favorite rap albums of the year.
Edit: damn great job getting this on the charts you deserve it

Sufjan Stevens - The Age of Adz
97

Sufjan Stevens never fails to blow my expectations out of the water and I think this is the biggest instance of that. I had no idea what to expect going into this other than the fact that people don’t seem to put it on the same level as Illinois, Carrie and Lowell, and even Javelin. I’d honestly say that it is just as good as those three. I never knew I needed electronic Sufjan but this album proves that he can pull of any sound. His voice combined with the glitched out, electronic ... read more

I love how the Deadpool movies balance the line between beautiful and hilarious so well, often times at the same time. The credits for Deadpool 2 was definitely one of those moments. Can’t wait for the new movie.
Edit: I just watched the new movie and IT WAS SO FUCKING GOOD

Yes - Close to the Edge

This is my 200th review🥳🥳🥳. For this milestone I wanted to review something special and one of my favorite prog albums was just sitting there, unreviewed. This album is incredible from start to finish. There are several moments throughout it that are some of the greatest moments in all of music. All three songs are masterpieces in progressive rock and music in general.

Only one more review until 200. This is one of the best EPs of all time. It sounds like the band was really starting to explore the sound that they fully delved into on Lysf. What is really weird about this record, considering this is an instrumental band, is that there are some incredible lyrics here. BBF3 follows the story of the titular Blaise Bailey Finnegan through an interview that’s spliced between the songs climaxes. Sure, he’s crazy and his views definitely don’t ... read more

Radiohead - A Moon Shaped Pool

Only 3 more reviews until 200 (yes I will count down every review). This is Radiohead’s saddest album which is very impressive when you look at albums like Kid A and Ok Computer. A Moon Shaped Pool takes the stripped back sound of In Rainbows and pushes it to its extreme. This is a very spacey sounding album and it’s one of the most atmospheric in Radiohead’s discography. Radiohead has always been good at creating a sonic landscape (as I said in my In Rainbows review) and this ... read more

Tyler, The Creator - IGOR

Only 5 reviews (including this one) away from 200! This album is something that I haven’t really been that crazy about until recently. I had Relistened after being harassed by my friend about it and ended up really enjoying it. I’ve always loved Are We Still Friends but now I have a few more favorites from the album like GG/TY and Earfquake. While I still don’t get the hype for a few songs (namely new magic wand) I enjoyed this album much more than previous listens.

Nektar - Remember the Future

Edit: happy birthday to one of the greatest prog records ever made🥳

I love how this album has just been passed down through a series of recommendations lol. Anyways thanks @blibloblublub this is great. Some of the best prog rock I’ve ever heard. I genuinely can’t decide which part I like better they are both prog masterpieces. Definitely a hidden gem and something I can’t wait to blow my eardrums out listening to at full volume.
