Deathconsciousness is the saddest album I’ve ever heard. What’s crazy to me is that a solo album by Dan Barrett is the second saddest. Everything about this album is just crushing. The lyrics are so depressing. The music itself sounds incredible gloomy. Even the album cover leaves you feeling a flood of emotions. This album is has everything that I love about deathconsciousness while managing to feel different in a way that is much more personal to Dan. Deathconsciousness is ... read more
One of the most disturbing hip hop songs I’ve heard since dance with the devil. Only reason I took 5 points off is the annoying ass sound at the end. My ears are bleeding lol.
This was my introduction to swans and I don’t think I’ve ever had an album scare the shit out of me like this one. There are other albums out there with unsettling atmospheres but this album is just downright disturbing. The way I interpret it is that it is the audible interpretation of the horribleness of humanity. The more beautiful songs like songs for a warrior and a piece of the sky feel like breaths of fresh air before plunging back into the dark and disturbing songs of this ... read more
I’ve been waiting to review this album until it really clicked for me and I think I like it enough that I can finally review it. First of all this is a very beautiful sounding album. It has taken me a bit to get over Björk’s vocals but they’re growing on me a lot. She is a very good singer. This album is a lot more experimental than I first thought it would be when I first listened. The production reminds me a lot of Kid A (which is an album that I love). Overall this is ... read more
This is the saddest music I have ever heard. I’ve always thought is sounded like if Swans made Loveless. It combines post rock with the dreamy vocals and noisiness of MBV. It is also similar to a Swans album because of its length. This is a very long album, which when combined with its dreary and hopeless sound makes it very hard to listen to. If you can get through it though you’ll find some of the best post rock songs ever made.
Edit: Forgot to mention this was the 100th album I ... read more
Edit: I GOT IT ON VINYL
This is one of the best first listens I’ve ever had for an album. I would honestly say that I had it in my top 5 albums after my first listen and while I don’t think that anymore it still holds a solid spot in my top 50 albums of all time.
Pretty underrated. Title track is one of my favorite songs, ladies of the road is super over hated, and the album is pretty consistent. Definitely crimsons most beautiful album.
This album really is perfect. It proves how good Lauryn is to have only one album and still have 14 million monthly streams on Spotify.
Even if I prefer MM Food this is still one of the best albums in all of hip hop
I'm kinda shocked at how fast paced this album was. I felt like there was no room to breathe from start to finish. Its crazy overwhelming and intense yet also emotional somehow. Coral Blue and the title track are both some of the best metal songs I've ever heard. I also think this is one of the best album covers of all time.
I don't think I've gone back to this once after the first time I listened.
Edit: perhaps I treated you too harshly
I know I'm a bit late but I was a bit hesitant to listen to this album because I'm not very familiar with the genre. It took a few songs to get used to but I ended up really liking this album. Definitely a good introduction to electropop.
