This album is so relaxing to me. Sufjan Stevens voice is one of my favorites in music. Just such a beautiful and emotional album.
There is so much I love about this album. From the first 10 seconds this is already one of the best albums ever made. 21st century schizoid man is an absolutely incredible song that deserves all the praise it gets. The craziest part is that it is my third favorite song on the album. I Talk to the Wind is one of the most beautiful songs ever made and a perfect follow-up to the intense opener. I've never really been that big of a beetles fan and now that I've listened to one of their best albums I can confidently say I'm still not a huge fan. I can appreciate what they did for the music industry and how good this album is on paper which is why I gave it a decently high score, but it doesn't really do much for me.
I don't know how I used to think this was mediocre. I just relistened for the first time since I first listened and was blown away. The production is otherworldly and so futuristic. Reborn is probably my favorite song but they are all incredible. The length is a bit of a drawback for me and is what keeps it from a 100 but its incredible impressive for an album the length of a GY!BE song.

I found this album when it reached number 1 and Brads review made me go check out the video. I immediately clicked off after hearing how good the first song was and I've been listening on and off for the past few days. Todays my birthday so I'm deciding to review and album that came out 15 years ago, today. I get some real Aeroplane Over the Sea vibes from this album but it is different sounding enough that it doesn't feel like a blatant copy. I'm gonna get this out of the way now and say that I am not trans. There are some great songs on here like Cloudbusting, Hounds of Love, Hello Earth, and ofc Running Up That Hill. However a lot of disk 2 kinda falls flat for me. Might be an unpopular opinion but I don't think this album is a stand out pop album at all.
