this album is definitely Posts weirdest one to exist, he hadn't explored this sort of sound much prior or after. despite this, there r quite a few gems on this, and while I don't think Posts voice naturally works with this sound, he made ways to make it sound good. my only complaints are A) sometimes he went into a vocal register too high for him, and B) some of the lyrics didn't feel right, not like they weren't Post Malone lyrics, but just over this style of music. overall ... read more
for this being so long, it's low-key pretty consistent. if it was cut down and was as good as the first tracks, this could've easily been like an 85, but a lot of the sounds get done a lot and it's a little bloated
this felt so under baked. I only got like 2 or3 good songs, with only Robot Rock being on par with anything from their past album. a lot of good ideas, but it felt like trying to rip off Homework, except at least with homework there was variation and it was interesting on a decent amount of tracks. this felt like they made like 2 or 3 sections and played them on loop. way too repetitive, way to barebones, theh should've taken more time, these felt like demos
this was cool, some it felt like it was trying to redo the magic of Illmatic tho. a lot of cool flows, it was overall very good, just nothing that stuck out to me near as much as Illmatic
Wayne verse was ok, Smino does good as per usual, but chance is just doing too much. the production is too busy for him to be doing as much as he is doing
I thought this had a few good songs, I wasn't huge on the Yachtys sing, but I think Eminem had a good verse and JID is good a ever
listening in preparation for Jackboys 2. it would be a lot higher if A) Travis didn't put that buns remix, if it felt more complete. the only song that feels like a Jackboys song is Gang Gang, then it's just like 2 Don songs, a Sheck song a Thug song and a Pop song. it felt super unnecessary to exist, but the bangers were tough. hopefully the sequel is more like Gang Gang and not just random singles
bangers so good I wasn't even aware he was conscious rapping too. a couple weaker tracks but overall another amazing project by Denzel, and it has been aging pretty decently sonically
I'm not gonna lie this would be a lot higher if this dudes lyrics weren't as corny. like I Look Good felt so cringe to me. that being said, I have followed this guy on insta for a while and recently saw he got a Kendrick co sign, so I figured I'd check him out. his flow reminds me of Big Boi, and delivery reminds me of Andre and Kenny. I think he has a lot of potential, he just needs to work on his lyrics and maybe trying out different production styles. if he does that I see a ... read more
highlight of this whole album is both the progression of each song and the production. I really liked the sombre cuts like skinny or the greatest, and the radio cuts were cool too. I wish she would've explored more tonality changes cuz variation in the songs where it was varied made them impeccable. I also appreciate the experimentation with electropop but some songs it was not needed and kinda made the mood feel off. overall I really really liked the more ambient moody tracks, very good ... read more
while I preferred the bangers from Lord Willing, this album is much more consistent, which helps to put it over. also the bar work is still amazing on both, I just prefer the sound of lord willing. as an overall project tho, this is better and is heat
yall weren't kidding when you said this was an AOTY contender, this was amazing. this score may up, i will say some of this was a little too chaotic in the production, but this was very impressive as a piece of art
so many bangers, I really liked the production, just less going on then their other projects
this man was hook-maxxing bc these choruses were so catchy. masterclass in gangster rap, banger after banger, and doesn't overstay its welcome. peak idk how some of y'all are hating
banger after banger, surprised on the variety of lyrics too. some of these beats are insane (thanks Kanye), and a lot of it still stands up today. very cool
