this grew on me as I listened, but honestly my two main issues were that a lot of the songs were too bare and too long. many songs had a minute of just drums, which idk man could've done without that part. also the length could sometimes be annoying but I don't mind that as much. I liked some of the more distorted sounding synths as the other projects I've heard from them lack that. overall it was ok, slightly disappointed tho
honestly I really liked Plan A, and come back to a lot of thoses. I don't see that happy this time, I appreciate the occasional variation from just rage, but he felt super sleepy in some of the better beats. oh well, at least he is consistent, but hopefully he switches styles too
on one hand, i have a few grips. its so dark it actually scares me (which is both a positive and negative), and the subject matter seems to jump place to place frequently. however, this is some of the most deep and thorough ive ever had to look at lyrics, and i still don't understand what all he meant, which gives this album a big boost. i wont be returning to this tho cuz it scared me too much
why do all the pop stars have to dabble in country man. i dont mind the melody, i will say the "f my life" in the chorus feels really forced though and is off putting, it feels like its just trying to be edgy. those are my two main complaints, it wasnt the worst tho, Sabrina's singing was good as per usual
I gave the original a 72, but I didn't know many of these were deluxe tracks, so I had to revisit. the deluxe had some of the best tracks. TPASJ, F Up Some Commas, and Real Sisters are some of my favorite songs from the entire DS2 project. The conclusion also feels much more conclusive as Commas and not BOTM. this deluxe is one of the best trap albums of all time ngl
I genuinly think I could make a better beat than Peanut 2 N Elephant in FL in like 5 minutes, how did this make the cut 😭
bro he tricked me so hard with the first few songs, he was actually rapping so well. and then he went country... and then he tried to sing, and then he got his son on the hook, and then he kept singing, and then he got dookie beats... this just fell apart, i kind of expected it tho cuz he has been washed
i was expecting more tbh, the songs i liked i thought were amazing, like consideration and kiss it better, but some songs i just kinda thought were stinkers, despite the star power on it. i did not like work (i know right, shocker) or woo, despite liking travis scott and (early) drake's work. i think the moments that worked worked well, and the ones that didn't kinda sucked. also despite how well Rihanna's cover of Tame Impala was, it will never not offput me
I like this project, very calm and a great night listen, just some ideas didn't feel fully explored bc apparently she was allergic to making a song over 3 minutes
had to give this a listen before Tha Carter VI, I was worried because I wasn't huge on III, but this was so good, very few weak songs, main points taken off just due to the tracklist length, very solid tho, so many bangers
banger after banger, so consistent, one of the best New York hip hop records, if not one of the best hp records in general. can't believe it took me this long to listen to this
I can see why this is seen as the best album of all time, it was really really good. while listening I felt like I was trying to spot the sample, cuz so many of these songs have been sampled in other famous songs. peak music
ok this review may be a longer one. I was a huge fan of Jon Bellion in middle school, and while a lot of my music taste from middle school has very very much fallen out of my taste (cough, AJR), but I had respect for Bellion and his creativity, even if I did fall out of love for some of his work. this is why I felt a need to visit this, as I saw an old friend post about it on his insta
to start with some of the positives, Jon Bellion has very much matured in the past 7 years. His production ... read more
if the whole album were like the first four or songs, this would be like a 95 cuz those tracks were peak. the end has some bangers the middle just had some mod which brings this rating down. Pusha T and Malice are incredible on this, and The Neptune production is really good most the time. my main complaints are just some songs in the middle didn't age as well, mainly on the production side. still banger album tho
YELLOW DIAMONDS LOOK LIKE PEEPEE 🗣️
this was such a a banger, amazing production from Pharrell, viscous verse from Push, and Malice had a good verse too
I actually really liked this, I liked the more RnB approach than Fancy That, there were just a couple of features that were eh to me
andre has a way with titles doesn't he 💀
it was cool, it felt more like ideas he just kinda wanted to share, but it's not amazing, I mean it's just a piano and he doesn't seem to be like a Duke Ellington or anything. I did enjoy a track or two tho I can't lie
I feel like I am missing something, because a lot of this felt very just boring. I really like future in his singing bag so I expected to like this more, maybe I just need more visits with it, but it felt like a lot of the middle songs either just had some awkward future hooks or weird singing. maybe I'll warm up to this later
this was really really good, a lot of summer vibes and I liked a heavier lean into the rock influence. stripper song was weird tho... hope to see a full length project from these guys soon (and by soon I mean this year hopefully)
honestly better than I expected, but a lot of mid. some awkward or weird thug performances, but he was locked up so it makes sense. there were also some really underrated cuts on this like Global Access or Cars Bring Me Out, but overall this has too much mid to rate it any higher
