I don't really understand the hate, this album is great in my opinion. Granted it's probably Bring Me The Horizon's worst album by a long shot, but I still see a lot of potential here, especially on songs like "Pray For Plagues" and "Medusa". Cringe at points? Maybe, but I'm also a little cringe too. I did notice that this was a little more melodic for deathcore than what I'm familiar with, so there's that. There could have been more to it ... read more
I think probably the most enjoyable factor that I experienced was holding in my inner happiness every time I heard vocalist Jonny Davy spam pig squeals in every section. Other than that, good deathcore.
The F students are INVENTORS 🔥they're so fuckin' CREATIVE that they couldn't sit in class because whatever people were trying to put in their head, they knew it was fuckin' BULLSHIT
Tim Hecker - Part 10 - "Ravedeath, 1972" (02/14/2011)
Happy Valentines Day I guess, since on that day in 2011, Tim decided to release a very romantic album.
We're back at it again with another Tim Hecker album, and I truly believe this is Tim's best work since "Radio Amor". I haven't heard Virgins yet, but I feel like this is what Tim was building up for, just very long and tight pieces of music that put me to ease. He shows yet again that he is a ... read more
- Tim Hecker - Part 9 - "An Imaginary Country" (03/10/2009) -
This is the first Tim Hecker album that I've heard without an abundance of glitchy sounds, which is weird because that's what his sound is built upon most of the time. Nonetheless it's pretty cool to see him try to branch out and do something new.
I think this album does a great job at imagery. I can pretty much envision nature at it's greatest with this album, and how it evolves over the course of ... read more
- Tim Hecker - Part 8 - "Atlas" (11/??/2007) -
I don't know how to explain it, it kind of sounds different from the other albums of his, and then he kind of added a hint of "Mirages" to it. I like it either way. It's a nice EP with a few cool sounds and stuff like that.
Again I don't really know much to say about these EPs, but I can say that they are very solid EPs. They're nothing like the greatness of his albums, but they offer some cool stuff in ... read more
- Tim Hecker - Part 7 - "Norberg" (10/10/2007) -
Here's another "live" ambient recording from Tim Hecker, and honestly this one was better than the last one. Not much else to say here, it's just a good recording. Tim Hecker does his usual, and yet again I admire his consistency. With his glitchy atmospheres and landscapes, he's still proving to be one of my favorite ambient artists of the genre.
- Tim Hecker - Part 6 - "Harmony in Ultraviolet" (10/16/2006) -
This was an ambient album that I was very excited to listen to. Before this, we basically got annual releases from Tim Hecker, starting with the album "Haunt Me" in 2001, then "My Love Is Rotten To The Core" in 2002, then "Radio Amor" in 2003, then "Mirages" in 2004. This time, however, Tim basically skips a year.
I'm not sure if he did it for a break, or to perfect the ... read more
- Tim Hecker - Part 5 - "Mort Aux Vaches" (03/05/2005)
I should probably inquire to what I'm covering in this Tim Hecker series. That is all of the stuff that he has on Spotify. You can call me lazy, I understand, but I'm still not going to go to YouTube.
Anyways, this is a release under the label "Mort Aux Vehicles", and I can't see what this is supposed to be. I believe it is a live recording. My only complaint about this release is that it probably was ... read more
- Tim Hecker - Part 4 - "Mirages" (09/21/2004) -
At this point, Tim Hecker had reached an incomprehensible peak with "Radio Amor". How in the world do you even try to match the masterpiece that that album is? Well, the simple answer is that you don't have to. Tim Hecker does what he likes best on this album, and it makes something truly refreshing.
This album is exactly what you'd expect it to sound like if you looked at the album cover. The sound accurately ... read more

Content Warning: I talk a lot about addiction and depression here
If you know me personally, you already know how I feel about this album. As a matter of fact, it's probably one of the most important musical experiences I've ever had in my life, and the whole reason I'm doing such a discography dive. This album is not like any other ambient album before it; a staple of its time. If "Haunt Me" was the happy ... read more
- Tim Hecker - Part 2 - "My Love Is Rotten to the Core" (06/25/2002) -
Our boy Tim Hecker was popping off with the great "Haunt Me", and he decided that the next big thing would be to make a... Concept album of sorts? Yeah, so this EP is about Van Halen, and that becomes obvious by the title of the EP itself, coming from a line of the popular Van Halen track "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love". It sounds silly on paper for an ambient/drone album, but he does ... read more
- Tim Hecker - Part 1 - “Haunt Me” (11/20/2001) -
Tim Hecker is a beloved ambient artist from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. He started playing music at a very young age, at first playing with friends in rock bands before acquiring his own sampler for his own projects. He started his professional music career by producing DJ and Techno music under the alias “Jetone”, though this is the first album that he made under his real name, Tim Hecker.
To be honest, I ... read more
Believe me when I heard the first five seconds I immediately started to cringe. The delivery is fine but it's not, and that's the problem with Matt's voice is that it fits Three Days Grace in sound but he just sounds so edgy and ingenuine to me. Adam, though, that's my goat. He did his parts mostly right. Matt isn't a bad vocalist by any means but sometimes he is just super edgy. Adam's voice has always fit Three Days Grace though.
Still feeling a little mixed on ... read more
To be honest, I didn't expect to enjoy this. I think part of why I did enjoy it was because I wasn't expecting just straight up metal, which, yeah, to be fair, most people also weren't expecting just kick-ass, run-of-the-mill metal. What I mean is that I was expecting them to lean more towards weird pop and R&B sounds, with occasional djent moments to keep my metalhead side very pleased. Honestly I really liked what it turned out to be.
"Emergence" was the first ... read more
Converge is a band that has been caught into the clutches of my radar, and now I have the privilege in the streaming/digital age to stream them. So why not? I’ve already heard Jane Doe, their 2001 effort, and that stuff completely knocked me out. I had the worst headache during “Thaw”; it was just overwhelming as all hell and I’d highly recommend it for its absolutely bonkers sound engineering and heaviness. Also just for those people who dismiss metalcore because of its ... read more
I actually saw these guys live. They were the second band I saw live (they were the second opening for Whitechapel) and I loved every second. Trust me, they are not a force to underestimate. They're like Cannibal Corpse but more accessible to a newer generation of metalheads. And they're almost as consistent as them, creating some really nasty grooves and stuff of sorts. It's very akin to that old school death metal sound, but with a slight hardcore lean to it I feel. From ... read more
If you haven't heard it, hear it. Djent is kind of basic for a "genre" because I always saw it as just a form of guitar playing and not really a genre itself. Of course, you're entitled to your own opinion, but if djent is a genre then Meshuggah are the best to do it. I mean, these guys can make you headbang with every chug that Fredrik Thordendal and Mårten Hagström throws into the mix, and don't forget my homie Tomas Haake on the drums and the absolute ... read more
This song's bassline is funky as hell, that combined with Geordie's maniacal vocal performance and the random breakdowns in between just completely melt my brain. One of my favorite songs.
I adore the production like usual, even if the piano ballad part at the beginning is a bit generic for my taste I think Carl Bown did a great job producing this. The bombastic, loud choruses at the second half make up for something really solid here. As I've said before, really excited to check out this new Sleep Token release and how my thoughts hold up.
