The instrumental on this song weirdly manages to make me very very emotional.

Damn. An aoty user making drone music? Well that's surprising. What's even more surprising is how ConcreteCastles actually made a good drone album. It's not great or mind-blowing, but drone is a genre that is extremely difficult to fully understand and even more difficult to make decent music within the genre. It must've been a really challenging process for ConcreteCastles, but their great understanding of what is a good drone album and what qualities should drone music have definitely helped ... read more

Thank you Malneezy for sending me the link. This is quite an interesting EP. I could hear a wide variety of influences in this one but none of the songs could be considered unoriginal or anything. It's obvious they're still testing out the waters and I can say, there's talent and skill there, but what needs to be added, in my opinion, is a bit more emotion, a theme and an identity to the whole of the songs.

Interesting experimentations, apparent influences, inconsistent vocals, lack of lyrical strength, and much potential.

Hello! I just released the album Diffractions! It features 32 minutes of lush, psychedelic, soothing drone music! Also, there is a limited edition DVD-R with blooming visuals to accompany the album.

I would really appreciate it if you decide to check it out :)

All the links are in my review!

Hey, don't worry about it. By like-minded people I simply mean those who are generally more open to many kinds of music and don't exclusively praise the already praised. And by into similar stuff I'm referring to the genres high in your ratings that aren't quite as popular/common on here such as jazz (that isn't just avant), techno, drone, EAI, ambient, you know. And don't worry at all about not being an expert on music, most people in the server certainly aren't. It's almost entirely casual and simply meant to be a relaxing place for positive music discussion. And activity doesn't matter either, although I do hope you use it a bit and find it enjoyable.
I attempted to add you on Discord but it didn't seem to work. If you could try adding me that would be great. My username is: tristanripley

Also, I was gonna ask, are you interested in joining a small private discord server I own? Mostly like-minded people who are into similar stuff as us.

Oh, that is great to hear. :-)
I also see you really enjoyed "Moanin" which is even better to hear. One of my favorite jazz albums. Art Blakey the legend.

Thanks a lot!! I hope you like it :)

Check out Jeff Mills' Live at the Liquid Room - Tokyo if you haven't. Christoph de Babalon's If You're Into It, I'm Out of It is amazing for a more varied/ ambient tinged listen, and Cyrus' single and EP is a must if you have a nod toward Basic Channel's ambient dub/minimalistic sort of stuff. Schwefelgelb' Dahinter das Gesicht EP is a great entry point for heavier techno. For organ works, check out Aine O'Dwyer's Music for Church Cleaners Vol. I and II, Fred van Hove's Church Organ or the Shirley sisters early stuff for more folsky interactions. For droney, more spacious material, check out the latest ones from Kali Malone. Eliane Radigues' Occam XXV also fits in there.

Hi Cyan. You'll be pleased to hear I much prefer non-vocal jazz as well.
When it comes to dark jazz my mind first goes to the album that started it all:
"Ascenseur pour l'échafaud" by Miles Davis. Heavily influential toward that scene and really shook things up a bit at the time.
Sadly I must admit that the majority of jazz I listen to falls within the bop categories and is generally upbeat or loud - therefore darker jazz isn't something I am all too knowledgeable about. In fact, I've probably heard even less of it than you have. I find a good bit of cool jazz to be fairly moody though, maybe Bill Evans could be your cup of tea. However I have a strong feeling that still isn't quite what you are looking for. I'm afraid I can't be of much help. If you ever do find any fascinating darker jazz, send it my way. Looking through your high ratings I seem to agree with a great deal of them.
I share you opinion of finding Bohren & der Club of Gore somewhat uninteresting.
