Whitechapel - Hymns in Dissonance
79

Absolutely fucking brutal! I'm not really that familiar with deathcore but this shit smack across the face with the power of crashing plane, I kinda love it actually.
Out of the two metal album released yesterday, Tsunami Sea is more my speed but I'm very glad I gave this a try!

Spiritbox - Tsunami Sea
88

Oh shit, this might be their best project ngl.

I learned of Spiritbox a bit after their 2023 EP The fear of Fear, and I also listened to their first album. Feel about the same about both of them, Their highlights are fucking awesome, but they failed to fully grab me. Still enjoyed my time with them tho. However, this time it's different. It's all stuff we've heard before, true, but with a confidence and mastery that's felt throughout, and it hits! It hits hard! Very few ... read more

Denzel Curry - TA13OO
90

While Melt my Eyez is my favorite of his projects, Ta13oo is just as great. It start out fairly mellow and vibey, and slowly goes off the rails at it goes on in the best way possible. It's also not afraid to toutch on very sensitive topics, as it's name suggests. It does have a narrative behind it, but it's not really at forefront. I do recommend looking into it if you are interested tho.

But yea, great album from an artist who seemingly can not miss. If you've never heard ... read more

DITZ - Never Exhale
78

Very solid industrial post-punk album. It loses me a bit when it comes to the slower tracks in the second half but this band has alot of potential. Very glad I gave this a try

Favorites: Taxi Man, Space/Smile, Senor Siniestro, Four, The Body as a structure

The Weeknd - After Hours
90

My favorite weeknd album, thought I haven't listened to the original trilogy yet so maybe it will get dethroned, who knows? The second half is one of the best in pop history imo. The first half is pretty great itself, but once heartless starts the album just HITS DIFFERENT!

The Weeknd - Hurry Up Tomorrow
86

I'm kinda mixed on it. The half I love I REALLY love. But there's also alot I don't really care for. It feel likes it's wayyyy longer than it should be, with alot of the tracks blending together a bit. I think the album is better than the sum of it's parts and it's a great send off to the Weeknd persona, but I feel like it could have been an all time classic if was, maybe 16-18 tracks rather than 22. It's a great record, just one that is very ... read more

Denzel Curry - Melt My Eyez See Your Future
96

I first heard this a couple of months ago while in the process of moving, and now it's climed to become one of my favorite albums of all time. I don't think theres a better album to represent what I love about hip hop, even bought the cd for it.

It's a deeply personal album, it feels like Denzel is walking around a mist in his mind, trying to find himself in our chaotic world. Trying on different influences, exploring himself, and opening up slowly but surely along the way. ... read more

Denzel Curry - Imperial
89

Denzel is a name I heard for years but never really dived in his own projects until a couple of months ago, but he quickly rose to become one if my favorite rappers. One of the most versatile yet consistant voices in hip hop for sure.

Out of his "banger" projects, Imperial might be my favorite (KOTMS2 is very close). The production MAKES this album. It's gritty yet spacey which I love. It kinda reminds me of melt my eyez' hazy production in a way, though they sound very ... read more

The Mars Volta - The Mars Volta
75

Good art pop album. It's just weird to see The Mars Volta name is on it since it's about the furthest thing from the rest of their discography. If you're open to a more chill and pop centered album from the guys who brough you Cassandra Gemini, then yea, it's good.

Favorites: Blacklight Shine, Que Dios Te Maldiga Mi Corazon, No Case Gain, Equus 3, The Requisition

The Mars Volta - The Bedlam in Goliath
90

Their heaviest and weirdest album yet. The concept of the album is apparently the band members trying to exorcise a demonic being through sound after a ritual gone wrong, and yep, it DEFNITELY sounds like it. Unlike their previous record, there is no slow moments here. It's start at 100 and never let's go a second until it's over.

Though it' also one their most uneven. It's either some of their best material or some of their least digestable. The first 5 songs makes ... read more

The Mars Volta - Amputechture
90

One the last album I got to in their discography funny enough. Might have been in my favor since by this point I'm used to TMV's experimentation and weirdness. This is definitely their most technical and prog in their entire discography but it's notheless incredibly catchy. Vicarious Atonement and Tetragramaton goes on maybe a bit too long, and the closer is just... not it. But the rest of the album?! Oh my fucking god. Absolutely Brilliant. If you're already a fan of the ... read more

The Mars Volta - De-Loused in the Comatorium
98

In my opinion, this is the most consistantly great album from the band. While I prefer the highs from later records, this the one that I go back to over and over. The perfect blend between the energy of their post hardcore roots and prog rock.

Favorites: Roulette Dares, Drunkenship of Lanterns, Eriataka, Take the Veil Cerpin Taxt

Kendrick Lamar - DAMN.
95

The album that made me love hip hop. It's a pretty devisive album depending on who you ask, but that's mainly because the rest of his discography is that amazing! Sure, GKMC, TPAB and MMATBS are tighter have more powerful moments, and GNX took it's title from his most replayable album, but it's great and absolutely stacks up.

DNA, ELEMENT, LOYALTY and XXX are top tier bangers to this day. HUMBLE has been overplayed to all hell but hey, it's still fun to bump from time ... read more

Gojira - L'enfant Sauvage
94

Probably the most emotional album in their discography, outside of maybe magma. It acts as a transition point between their death metal beginnings and their softer mainstream sound (Which is still very good!). It's one of my favorites from the band, I keep flip-floping if it or From Mars to Sirius is my favorite. It's also my go to introduce new people to Gojira. I showed it to my girlfriend, who doesn't usually listened to metal for example, and she absolutely loved it!

It can ... read more

Gojira - From Mars to Sirius

This one had to grow on me a shit ton. If you would've asked me about my thoughts on it a few months ago, I would've told you that it was good, for sure, but I was very uncertain about where all the praise was coming from. 6 months later, and man did that ever change.

The fact this album is now 20 years old is wild to me, because it sounds anything but. The subject couldn't be more current. This litteraly sounds like the planet, screaming at us to do something, ANYTHING for the ... read more

Gojira - Terra Incognita

I though FMTS and TWOAF were brutal. Jesus christ

Give me more pls

Kendrick Lamar - GNX
89

Not as air tight as the absolute powerhouses that are GKMC or TPAB, and I don't think it will have the same personal attatchments I have for DAMN and Mr. Morale, but it didn't really need to. This is a fucking victory lap for one of the wildest rap beefs, and Kendrick is mainly there to give the people some bangers. And with everything he accomplished with his carreer, he has everyright to.

Favorites: Squabble Up, Luther, Hey Now, Reincarnated, Tv off, dodger blue, Peekaboo Heart pt. ... read more

The Mars Volta - Frances the Mute

The Mars Volta is one of my favorite bands of all time. I tend to be very hit or miss with progressive music, and imo TMV is one of the few that makes me get it. And this is where I was introduced. During the pandemic I revisited Guitar Hero world tour again and I stubled onto L'Via L'Viquiez. One thing for certain is that I was not ready.

The actual songs from this album are incredible, some of my favorites from the band. Cygnus... Vismund Cygnus, The Widow and of course L'Via ... read more

On KodakEZ's review of Spiritbox - Tsunami Sea
"Great reviews! Glad you enjoyed some of the album despite the heaviness of some of it haha. It's great to explore unfamiliar territories from time to time. Btw, Cortney LaPlante is actually the one who does both the screaming and the singing! This woman is incredibly talented it's crazy. As others have suggested, Eternal Blue, their previous album is definitely a good choice. It's a bit gentler and melodic than Tsunami Sea. Hybrid Theory by Linkin Park could also be a good choice. In the end is very overplayed sure, but the rest of album hold up well lmao. Depending on how you feel about prog and longer songs, I feel like you could enjoy some Tool as well down the line."
