Many people were torn on this album after hearing the first single. And even more people were torn on this album when the second single came out. It's clear by the release of Permanating that Wilson had decided to go in a more pop direction on this record. In my honest opinion, this is probably Steven Wilson's worst album across most of his projects. Machine Heads latest release. I knew when I finally got to sit down and listen to this album that it would be ummm "interesting" The general theme of this album as you will see is "Boring, Bland, Unexciting" This album is one of the worse albums I have listened to in quite a long time. I have to admit, I have never been into the kind of sound that Between the Buried and Me has delivered over the years. This EP is a very interesting thing. It shows fans that Mastodon still have some kind of creative song writing ability left in them. This EP is a mix of very different tracks then what you would expect from a typical Mastodon album. Its creative, interesting, and feels like a breath of fresh air compared to the uninspired studio LPs we have gotten from them in the past 8 years or so. This isn't a review as much as it is a PSA. In my 2 and a half decades of being alive I'm not sure that I have heard a song worse than The Pride. It is so bad that It causes me great harm trying to listen to it.
