Never forget when I saw Jay Electronica at Gov Ball a few years ago and he brought the whole crowd on stage, performed 2 songs and then spent the rest of his set shaking hands with everyone in the crowd. Legend.
This album coming out now is very surreal, especially with coronavirus and Friday the 13th. Very fitting for Jay Electronica's character arc. Solid album though, nothing bad really and the production has a sort of fresh vibe to it. Guess we did end up getting a version of Watch the ... read more
Know this was hyped for a while so it's cool it's actually out. Nothing that I heard in this was necessarily bad, but after hearing the whole thing I literally could not remember any of the songs. So yeah it's a pretty generic trap album that could've been shorter but still solid and has a sorta consistent sound so that's nice. Think it would've also been cool if Lil Uzi leaned more into the cult/UFO aspect of this and created a real storyline instead of just the short speech snippets, but ya ... read more
was feeling the grooves on this one

LEAST FAV: I Can't Help It
I like the jazzy, noir esque aspects on this, but idk after like the first half or so this gets suuuuuper boring for me. Doesn't even feel like anything is going on until the last 20 seconds of the album. Not the worst background music though
FAV TRACKS: Cellular, Supermarché, Comet Face, Stoned Again, Alone, Omen 3, Underclass
LEAST FAV: (Don't Let the Dragon) Draag On
Really wasn't feeling a lot of the vocals and guitar melodies on this one. Love the album art though

Love the first third the most, but then feel like it starts to become a bit hit or miss. Still full of heavy aesthetics, moody sounds & some satirical lyrics though so not a bad listen. On g tho Lipstick is one of the best songs I've ever heard mmmmmhmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Listened a second time before rating this, and I gotta say I did like it more so think this one might grown on me overtime. Enjoy the usual existential lyrics from Kevin on this and the album art fits with the themes of time passing (i.e. sands of time), but still feel like there were a handful of dull tracks on this and not many immediate standouts. Other than that, I enjoyed this time album for the most part and could see it growing on me more in the future.

Just finished watching Bojack Horseman and I had found Under the Pressure through the show so needed something to fill the empty hole the show left me in so turned to this. Honestly, I love this album and I imagine it's largely because it reminds me of Bojack but I don't know the constant Americana-rock, dreamy, summer road trip aesthetic this gives off is a big reason too. Need this on vinyl asap so I can cry and reminisce over the amazing show that was Bojack Horseman

Not bad. Some of the lyrics are quite good, but for the most part the production ends up feeling a bit bland and it's overall too long for my liking. Nothing was super standoutish either (yes I realize my favorite tracks listing begs to differ). Still not a bad album just not amazing
FAV TRACKS: Venice Bitch (outro really is a bit long), Cinnamon Girl, Bartender, Happiness is a butterfly, Mariners Apartment Complex, Norman Fucking Rockwell

This was the first Mac Miller album I've ever actually fully listened to. I knew some stuff by him in the past, but never was a big fan of him. Gotta say though, this was a pretty good album, which only makes his passing so much worse. It's full of lush instrumentals and very-little rap, showing that Mac Miller had a lot more potential musically. I'm at least glad though that his family & Jon Brion (who's honestly a slept on composer) were thoughtful and are making this his last & only ... read more
I enjoy the somber, late summer southern vibes on this, but I gotta say this album kinda loses me a bit after the first 3rd. The middle is definitely the weakest for me since sonically it's very different and some of the vocals are annoying af. Do like the grandiosoness of the track Sugar though. Still, it's a pretty nice indie album so yea
FAV TRACKS: Gretel, Hope, Southern Sky, Crime, Sugarhouse, Bad Man

Can be super repetitive and he kinda rips off Playboi Carti's delivery a lotta times, but the production is honestly pretty good and some of the tracks on here bang. Feel like this dude is gonna blow up this year.
