I rated Trench above this, but I think I prefer Clancy.
Here's the thing. With the build up from Overcompensate, you would expect "Trench 2" considering how much people disliked SAI. And while it's not another SAI, it's also not another Trench. I didn't expect another Trench personally, but something about this album just strikes much harder.
It's hard to explain, but songs like Vignette, Midwest Indigio and Snap Back just hit so differently.
Fav: Vignette
Least: Backslide
ORIGINAL: This isn't really it, imo. ILY felt safe and this has a clear theming of like "sad surf indie pop," and I love that vibe, but the songs itself aren't anything worth writing home about. I don't HATE it, but it feels inferior somehow.
Favs: Prey, Cry Baby, Daddy Issues, RIP 2 My Youth
Least Favs: Greetings from Califournia
NEW 2024: What the hell was wrong with me? I LOVE this album. Half of them are growers but most of them still hit.

For what it's worth, I actually heavily enjoy this album despite how safe it all comes off. Not much to say besides that I actually still like it a decade later.
Favorites: How, Afraid, Sweater Weather, WDYWFM?, Flawless
Least Favs: Female Robbery, Float
Yeah, it's all downhill now, isn't it? I like the tone Brendan's going for, though.
Best: Silver Lining, Roaring 20s
Least: Hey Look Ma, High Hopes, Dancing's Not A Crime, Old Fashioned
At least the mood perked back up? The cadaver of Panic being puppeteered is a little more enjoyable and poppy compared to the last album
Best: Hallelujah, Emperor's New Clothes, LA Devotee
Least: Victorious, Golden Days, House of Memories
All things considered, this album is pretty alright across the board. The full shift to electronic is strange, but not a surprise considering how much they experimented with that in their 1st album. Also, listening to this and knowing it's the first album as a solo project is a little depressing.
Best: Vegas Lights, Nicotine, Girls/Girls/Boys, Casual Affair
Least: Girl That You Love, Collar Full
I'm so sad that this is probably Panic's best album to date.
Best: Lying, But It's Better If You Do, I Write Sins, There's a Good Reason
Least: Camisado, TIme to Dance
This is a pretty disappointing album. Not because it's all bad, but because some of the songs are really good. However, the songs that do nothing for me weigh it down very heavily. I don't even hate this album, and it's still rather nostalgic to me.
Best: Coming of Age, Pseudologica, Best Friend, Beginner's Guide
Least: Nevermind, Goats in Trees, The Truth, Fire Escape
Surprisingly nostalgic album despite the fact that I was never a massive fan of them. It's overall just FINE.
Best: Helena Beat, Call it What You Want, Waste
Least: I Would Do Anything, Miss You
Fuck you. Deep Sea Cocoon and Kowareyasuki on the same CD is enough for a 100.
Why didn't he include this on the original LP????????
Oh well, the music video has me excited for the next phase in his career.
After the depressing outcome of IGOR and the bittersweet ending of Flower Boy, it's actually really refreshing to hear Tyler go back to straight hip-hop. It's just a really nice album to vibe out to and listen casually. Though, I'm not the biggest fan of the Estate Sale extension, but that's not included here.
Best: CORSO, LEMONHEAD, WUSYANAME, LUMBERJACK, RUNITUP, JUGGERNAUT, SAFAIR
Least: I THOUGHT YOU WANTED TO DANCE, WILSHIRE
Oh, IGOR...
I know I was late to the party on Flower Boy, but this album made me realize I was late to the party for TYLER himself. i can't deny how good the concept and how much detail is in each of these songs at all. This is such a massive change for Tyler that I just absolutely love. I can't even explain how much I love it.
Best: IGOR'S THEME, EARFQUAKE, I THINK, BOY IS A GUN, WHAT'S GOOD, ARE WE STILL FRIENDS?
Least: PUPPET, I DON'T LOVE YOU ANYMORE
Okay...it's getting good now.
Considering how weak Cherry Bomb was, this is a really good change of pace than what Tyler was doing beforehand. Once again, it's a key moment in his evolution as an artist.
Some of the sound was heard all the way back on Wolf and was heard a bit on Cherry Bomb, but getting it in a full album is a really great experience. This is probably my favorite Tyler album to date, though, I was really late to the party.

Okay, here's the thing. Some of the tracks in this album isn't really great. That's a no brainer, but I'm amazed at how good it gets considering how bad it can get. That being said, when this album is good, it's REALLY good. Some of the lyrics are just really weird. Like FUCKING YOUNG and BLOW MY LOAD sound wonderful instrumentally but the topics at hand are just so....ew.
Best: BUFFALO, FIND YOUR WINGS, BROWN STAINS, FUCKING YOUNG, SMUCKERS
Worst: RUN, CHERRY BOMB, BLOW MY LOAD (beat is rly ... read more
I just love the contrast of Tyler's typical shtick of shocking lyrics (albeit toned down from Goblin) and then some really nice beats like on WOLF or Treehome95. I can't believe it took me so long to actually listen to this album from front to back. It's a really interesting look back to see how Tyler slowly evolved into what he would eventually make.
Best: Jamba, Cowboy, Colossus, Rusty, Lone
Least: 48, Campfire, Parking Lot, Trashwang, Treehome95
Some people claim this to be the worst thing they've ever done or even worst than that, but it's not horrible? I can see what they wanted from it; a deviation from the typical angst they dropped over the years for something a bit more upbeat and lighter considering the state that the world was in for like 3 years straight. However, it doesn't clear how forgettable some of these songs are. It's been repeated, but once again; starts off strong and ends strong, but everything in the middle doesn't ... read more
I used to be a 21p fan over MCR when this dropped so I was fine with the release. Now after finally indulging in The Black Parade and hearing the original....this doesn't hold up as much anymore. It's not the worst...but I wouldn't choose it over the original.
