i'm not an emo it just sounds good
EDIT(99-100): Who the fuck was I kidding
this is my first grindcore album and so i'm reluctant to give it a 100, but at the same time no i'm fucking not this is the best metal album i ever heard
EDIT: after terrifyer
EDIT EDIT: Having heard more grindcore, this is still great but it's not one of the best metal records oat
best believe this score would be stupidly high if they hadn't outdone it so convincingly later one. some tracks are definitely weaker than others, but regardless this is one of the best metalcore albums of all time
energetic, gripping and sometimes beautiful. i'm genuinely shocked; this album was amazing
don't sit down cos i moved your chair is so much better than the rest of the album it's crazy. it hasn't continued the current downward trend of their albums, they took a quick break, as this is on par with humbug i think
i listened to this on a rooftop in turkey watching the sunset. ofc this is nearly a 10
the album makes no sense, there's some good riffs, some boring riffs, some good breakdowns, some weird sounding ones, every now and then Alex can capture the energy his vocals had on WPSIATWIN, and sometimes he has the most boring, lifeless performances i've ever seen. he's really a vocal of two extremes, however i feel this album goes from just better than mid, to pretty awful i feel.
i get what it's going for, and i enjoy it much more on a relisten. either that or genre sadboy gave me a new perspective
generic metalcore, i loved poppy for making metal like nobody else, but yeah this song is bland, we've all heard it a million times before
This album is like trying to give deathcore a more mainstream appeal, something which on paper sounds like a contradiction but actually this album is a lot more accessible than their earlier stuff. This is why I don't like it!!!! They make good choruses, but any spoken word comes off as cringe and out of place, and there are some odd instrumental twists that just sound weird. It lacks the atmosphere and brutality of their first two records, and I wasn't a huge fan. Can admit that Fuck ... read more
This is the definitive metalcore album, and now I can see why this genre was so hated. Not to say it's a bad genre, I think a lot of good came out of it. But as a blend of hardcore and heavy metal, this is the most cookie cutter and rough mix of the two you can get. From screamed verses and riffs to choruses ripped of a Dio record, both these individual parts work great, but with the exception of My Curse, they don't blend together so well. It felt like a disjointed listen, as well as all the ... read more
This is the worst kind of album. Not one that's so abhorrently unlistenable that you can't sit through it, but one that is just bland, uninspired, and drags on far too long. There's nothing good about this album. There's nothing particularly absolutely awful, but there's some bad, and zero good at all
i feel like the first half of this album i really hated, Brianstorm was okay, Fluorescent Adolescent was actually pretty good, but the rest were mediocre at best, and when Only Ones Who Know came out of nowhere, felt out of place and very boring, I was ready to throw in the towel. But it's on the second half where they manage to recapture some of the energy from their debut. The excellent ending of Do Me a Favour spawns a run of four of the best Arctic Monkeys tracks, and the best four on the ... read more
This is like if Lorna Shore were better mixed and had more fun. And were also kinda Dream Theatre
97-100: this album is 20 days old, and i have listened to it 26 times all the way through. it's fucking flawless
