Mike's rapping is actually heavily giving their early work and it actually sounds good! The production is boring and lacks impact, the chorus is mediocre. Again, this just sounds like most of the modern metalcore scene, but trying even harder to be linkin park
I hate how some of these instrumentals are so energetic (if generic), but it's just so horribly compressed, has some of the worst vocals, and some of the worst lyrics of all time
A shining example of what nu-metalcore can be, with some differing in quality but sometimes jaw-dropping, shoegaze-y atmospheric tracks
I think it's an okay song. Linkin Park returning was definitely NOT something I was expecting, especially not with Chester being replaced and especially not by a woman, someone who doesn't even sound similar to him. This is less gonna be a review, and more an explanation on why this album doesn't get a 100.
Based on some of my ratings, you would EXPECT this album to get a perfect or near perfect score, in fact one of the first things i thought listening to the opener was 'wow this reminds me of terrifyer'; so i should love this right??? Well I do, just not THAT much.

Otherwise the album is sonically massive and diverse, sometimes beautiful, the lyricism often compelling, production absolutely perfect. It is easily one of the best hip hop albums of all time, easily the strongest of this decade thus far
I have tried so many times to give this album my full attention from start to finish, and I can't do it. There are so few new ideas, so little bringing me back to specific tracks, it is the most Deftones Deftones album (so ig the name fits) and there is nothing else about it. The whole album from start to finish is raw, up close and uncomfortable, and builds an atmosphere that is so thick and enjoyable it sounds amazing, near perfect at points.
I am deducting 5 points because MX is a terrible closer. Excluding the stupid 30 minute silence, the first part of the song is easily the worst bit of actual music on the album. Other than that though i think the album is excellent.
