Save for violent crimes i could take or leave this album completely
EDIT (56-80): I am a fucking idiot
Korn's debut is kinda surprisingly phenomenal. I've heard both Life is Peachy and Follow the Leader, and both have landed somewhere in the yellow in terms of score. Korn self titled however ranks pretty highly in my favourite metal albums of all time.
This album's primary focus isn't on being necessarily weird, or heavy, or cramming in features and making rap songs, this album's whole shtick is being dark and depraved as hell. And it executes it perfectly, despite not ... read more
Remind me to listen to this through full volume speakers soon it'll up my score
EDIT: I listened through full volume speakers, but I also did this back to back with self titled, so unfortunately the rating could not go up. Still a top tier album
Cut maybe 5-6 songs and we got a strong strong 8 on our hands here
I have a soft spot for concept albums and how they tell their stories; Linkin Park's here is interesting and well told. The issue is sonically, none of this tracks are worth listening to again except for the closer. Regardless I thought this was a good experience, it's just the first Linkin Park record I don't think is worth returning to
While Terrifyer is more pained and disturbing, Unsilent Death is just brutal, angry and violent. I'm not sure which I prefer, they're the two greatest metal albums of all time
Is it just me or is this not that bad??? I get that it isn't very good, but one of the lowest rated albums of the year??? I'd listen to this over something like Tomb of the Mutilated any day
Can confirm my foreskin does trap the poo particles
Wtf was that song
EDIT (75-82): Blasting this shit is an out of body experience, the atmosphere, shoegazey elements and vocals are just so ethereal. I don't think the heavier cuts are any good, and obviously the album still has pink cellphone on it, but man is this album gorgeous. Track ratings are now outdated
Yeah I cba to write a review on this mess, i'mma just copy and paste my notes
-Why tf are Corey's vocals so bad, his cleans remain good for the most part, his screams and growls are SHIT
-All the instrumental is flat and sounds like shit, the riffing is bad, something about the drumming just sounds off despite the quality of the overall playing
-It's melodramatic, cringey and overly edgy
-Hip hop influence served slipknot much better than pop influence
-The Devil in I is still ... read more
It is 2am, I cannot sleep, and I am upping my score from 97 to 98, because playing Famous Last Words at full blast in the middle of the night made me a Famous Last Words enjoyer now. Two points are still deducted for Blood and Disenchanted, those can't be saved.
EDIT (98-100): i was thinking about this album today. That's all, I was just thinking about it. I should've had it at a 100. Despite two or three duds in the tracklist, no album means more to me in the world, and if I ... read more
I've discovered I would rather and album finish strong than start strong. After What I've Done this album takes a huge nosedive in quality (no more sorrow being a diamond in the rough)
The peaks here rival the peaks of the first two albums, but the lows are too frequent here
it's simply the most unrelenting and brutal album i've ever heard. the fact every instrument is perfectly audible and played so intricately too while maintaining all the speed and intensity just makes it a standout in the genre. the vocals here are insane, and despite having the same score, this album IS just prowler in the yard but better. i'd give it a 200 if i could
opens incredibly strong, finishes slightly weaker, strays into generic nu metal towards the end. overall a cery influential and great sounding project tho
i swear down i have upped this album's score so many times, it just keeps growing. the whole album, every song, just sounds so nice, idk what else to say
