Despite all its melodrama and the ruining of the modern metalcore scene, it's a cohesive, nice sounding record, that's as fun as it is overdramatic. Well produced, well performed, a few bland songs but otherwise a very ambitious project for the time
Maturing is realising deathcore bring me was never really all that
It was actually going surprisingly well until underground big came on. I don't care. That song is a 0. Is it unfair for one song to drag the score of an album down by like 20 points??? Not when the song is 24 fucking minutes. I'm genuinely pissed off
How are you 20 years into the career of one of the most successful rock bands of all time, and getting EVERYTHING wrong.
The songwriting is spotty, with some tracks that would be awful, even if the production wasn't the most amateur thing I've heard. Even Hetfield's vocals have had a significant downgrade. It doesn't make sense to me how this album is so bad
You're doing too much
If the last three songs were released on their own as an EP, this would be even better than AIRTN
I don't wanna say its aged horribly, because I doubt people ever really loved this
Not much to dislike here, I just don't vibe with the sound much. Ado herself has a really interesting voice, and the music is mostly okay, some very weird and interesting choices made here
Such a massive stepup from the already amazing previous two, one of the most iconic metal records of all time for good reason
Am i the only person in the world who's so-so on this?
EDIT(76-98 ): Am i the only person in the world who's a fucking dumbarse
A very promising nu-metalcore project, if only the lead singer wasn't a rapist
I'm only writing a review so you can see my track ratings and why this score is so low
It started off so well 🥲
Mitski look what can happen when you develop a fucking song. First love / late spring is a 10/10, one of my favourite songs out there, and it's the only mitski song i can think of over 4 minutes. She has a habit of just not finishing or developing her songs fully, and it always screams of unreached potential. This album isn't as bad for that as something like 'be the cowboy', but the issue is still there. Regardless, Mitski suits rock so well, and the way this album dances ... read more
What the fuck
EDIT(still a 100): This album is the most effectively terrifying, unsettling album I've ever heard. It is unrelenting, harsh and overbearing, with horrible lyrical themes of anxiety, a loss of faith, a loss of belief and just simply suffering. It is an uncomfortable listen, with almost horror movie-esque soundscapes, and yet it still goes so hard listening without it. Each song just builds on the intensity of the last one. This album is so good, if Hurt by NIN was on this, ... read more
