Swans - 13 (Original: 100)
Again, this is one of the greatest albums ever made, and one of the coolest I've ever listened too. The consistent power and disgusting instrumentals are amazing. And fuck its disturbing. I feel like this is the perfect Swans album. It has the great tracks of White Light and The Seer, while being extremely consistent, which is why I think its better than Soundtracks for the Blind. Its just so good!
Sonic Youth - 13
UNDERRATED. This album really surprised me with how great it was, especially this late into the discography. I really enjoyed this album, its like Sonic Youth is done experimenting and is just doing what they want. Please listen to this!
Sonic Youth - 12
It was alright, a lot worse than other stuff from around this time, but still has some standout songs/moments. This is NOT their worst album.
Swans - 12 (Original: 95)
The album sounds exactly like the cover. This deserves a 100, its not my favorite Swans album, but I do absolutely love this. Every song here is great, and a masterpiece. except for the wolf, but like that's only a minute. I should have given this a 100 the first time, so I am now!
Swans - 11 (Original: 75)
This is a pretty underrated album. Its not perfect but imagine how hard of an album this was to make! No Words / No Thoughts, Jim, and Inside Madeline are all great songs, but some just fall behind. Overall its pretty good.
Sonic Youth - 11
This is a very decent album, sad to say there's not much to it. Its not bad its just not too great. Sunday, Wildflower Soul and Hits of Sunshine are all really good tracks.
Swans - 10 (Original: 100)
My last review for this was absolute shit.
What a fucked-up album holy shit. One of the greatest ideas for an album with impeccable execution. It's kind of like DSOTM, where not every song is amazing, but it all come together to make a masterpiece. It lives up to all the hype. I'm probably not going to come back to many songs on here, but every now and then I will want to reexperience this album. Not my favorite Swans album, but it is one of the greatest ... read more
I thought this was pretty good. It's worse than the last album for sure, but it's still really solid and worth the listen!
Swans - 9 (Original: 85)
This is probably one of the best entryway Swans albums, this isn't to the albums discredit, it's both expanding the Swans sound while also giving a very open experience to any listened, old or new. I really enjoy this album, but not every song is very solid. Killing for Company is one of the greatest songs.
Slowdive has been one of those bands ive heard of, but never actually listened too. Well, that's changing now, especially after this amazing debut. The sound is just pristine and expansively beautiful and just makes me all the more excited to listen to this band!
Swans - 8 (Original: 65)
I think I was a bit harsh on this album. I really like the ideas and how it builds on White Light, but it just fails in comparison. This is still a pretty good album, just nowhere as good as White Light.
Swans - 7 (Original: 85)
The first time I listened to this, I really enjoyed it, and on second listen, it's probably my personal favorite Swans album, either that or To Be Kind. I know objectively it isn't a 100, but who cares? I love this masterpiece.
I can't believe how long it took for me to listen to this masterpiece. I first listened to Blonde a few years ago and honestly stayed away from channel ORANGE because I just didn't think it would live up to it. I was wrong, I prefer this WAY over Blonde, both are great, but this is just better in my eyes. Pyramids is one of the GREATEST songs ive ever heard.
Swans - 6 (Original: 70)
So this really grew off of me. I didn't enjoy this as much as I had before, it just isn't the same for whatever reason. That being said, God Damn the Sun is one of the best songs I've ever listened too, it's a genuine masterpiece. Don't listen to the album just listen to God Damn the Sun.
Swans - 5 (Original: 80)
This is where Swans turns to greatness after 4 mediocre albums. The writing and performances are just amazing and I loved my time in this entire album, it's just so great. Very underrated as well, more people need to listen to this!
