Travis Scott - ASTROWORLD
80

It's kinda crazy how the hype still outways the actual quality of this album after so many years, but it still holds up overall- it's just no Rodeo.

Young Thug - So Much Fun
90

My first album from my favorite artist, so how could this not have a special place in my heart? Consistently has been one of my top played albums ever since.

"Conceptually" this is probably my favorite Thug album because the entire idea of it is what Thugs music has always been about. It's silly, ridiculous, but also lovable in so many ways. So many lines that are so Young Thug they make you laugh out loud, deliveries and flows that ooze so much creativity, appearances across ... read more

Young Thug - Barter 6
80

I've always been pretty appalled when people say this is the best trap project of all time because I have never thought it even came close to Thug's best project- upon relisten... I like it more than I did before, but it's still nowhere near his best.

It's easily his most put together project phonetically- It has a very clear sound it's going for and it easily achieves it while having enough variety between songs, but the actual songs itself are a bit inconsistent in ... read more

Nine Vicious - EMOTIONS
60

Wow that just killed my hype for him entirely

I really enjoyed B4EM and found it to have multiple extremely memorable moments whether it be the beautiful production on songs like Raging Love or Racks Blue, or the transitions between songs, or his very raw performance on something like More Painting. There really aren’t many songs on here that really stood out to me first listen because it’s just consistently what he’s being doing the entire time. Just a LONG list of mediocre ... read more

Chris Brown & Young Thug - Slime & B
60

I don't really know what prompted me to relisten to this after not really liking it my initial listen but I did actually enjoy it a lot the second time around- Thug is my favorite artist of all time and I unfortunately tend to enjoy Chris Brown's music so you would think that I would really enjoy this.

This is a project that end of the day probably shouldn't exist.. a project made during quarantine in a bottom point in Chris Brown's career (as you can tell). Thug CARRIES ... read more

Young Thug - Slime Season 3
90

Of course it’s great, but some of the reason I think it’s so beloved is probably just because of how short and easily digestible it is.

This tape has been talked about to death so all I really have to say is With Them and Drippin are two of the most insane rap songs ever made.

Young Thug - Slime Season
85

By far my favorite Slime Season, and my third favorite project of Thugs.

I know a lot of people critique it for being a little jumbled when it comes to its sound, but I think that’s what makes it stick out to me among the 3 slime seasons. You can go from some of the hardest hitting trap songs out there like Take Kare, Quarterback or Again- into a fun, catchy and upbeat summer song like That’s All or Best Friend- into son of the most beautifully interesting songs that don feel like ... read more

Young Thug - Slime Season 2

I have a very strange history with this mixtape. It took me over a year to listen to it enough and attach every song to its title and I think after what is probably my 8th listen I finally have- I think that is evident of two things.

1. Slime Season 2 is at minimum a great project for me to have the care and effort towards listening to it 8 times.
2. Although, the tracklist is just too damn long, and the songs really start to blend together.

While it's a little worse than it was when I ... read more

Young Thug - I'm Up
75

A nice short mixtape that Thug clearly had a lot of fun making because of how many of his friends are on it (for better or for worse).

Very energetic performances from Thug throughout that alone make the project worth hearing- F Cancer, King Troup, Hercules, Special.

The lows aren't bad, but the mixtape is a little inconsistent quality wise and some of the songs certainly have bad moments on them. Some of the features here are genuinely really bad which makes the inconsistent quality ... read more

HXG - Homixide Lifestyle 2
80

Have never heard HXG before so naturally when I get curious to see what they sound like I go straight to their highest rated project (which might've been a mistake since it supposedly only goes down from here) but I am pleasantly surprised with my first listen to this.

You can definitely see why they have their place within OPIUM, being directly inspired by the more bass heavy, hard hitting songs from WLR like Rockstar Made or On That Time- while not as much as something like Rest in ... read more

Destroy Lonely - NO STYLIST
80

It's a shame to see this project being rated so low on here because this is EASILY his best, no competition. Lone commits to the aesthetic fully while also having each song sound different as you go through the tracklist. So many amazing songs here with only a few skips. Amazing production throughout and incredible rapping performance from lone on most songs. I think the best way to describe this is like if you put flow state future on Die Lit inspired production. Actually generational.

Destroy Lonely - If Looks Could Kill
75

It's good, almost great even, it's just lone clearly does not know how to tracklist or sequence an album.

Truly a lot of great songs on here the issue is they are sequenced in a way where the sound gets extremely tiring and repetitive after 26 songs and an hour and a half long runtime. The second half of the tracklist has great songs but by the time you get to them you are BORED.

Still, lots of highlights I will definitely revisit. how u feel is probably my favorite song from lone ... read more

Young Thug - JEFFERY
100

My second favorite project of all time, and the reason Young Thug became my favorite artist of all time.

Before around 2023, I was a casual fan of Young Thug for a long time and somehow, never really gotten around to listening to this despite hearing countless times that it’s his best mixtape. I was always a huge fan of Thugs features on other projects and heavily enjoyed the more mainstream, less bold “So Much Fun” that still has so many incredible songs on it- but because ... read more

Playboi Carti - MUSIC
70

While I do think something like Rest in Bass by Che is a much better evolution of WLR’s sound I think it’s still important to mention and acknowledge the evolution of Cartis sound here. My favorite part about every carti album is that they’re all different and are a clear evolution of his sound and musical skill. Every album from self titled to die lit to WLR (even including the leaked ones) are bigger and bolder than the ones that came before it. MUSIC did in some aspects but ... read more

NAV - TRIMSKI
50

I've never been that big of a NAV fan other than a few songs but this is kind of everything about him that I don't really like- His voice here is annoying, flow is boring, lyrics aren't even funny (which is usually part of his appeal)

And what an incredibly boring Thug performance

Beat is great tho

Young Thug - Punk
70

I don't know if it was the Tiny Desk concert, the snippets, or all the interviews about this album that might have created wrong expectations, but either way this is probably the most disappointing album ever(?) for me- it certainly failed to meet those expectations on a musical level, aesthetic level, and most importantly conceptual level. This could've EASILY been his best, which is saying a lot considering Thug is my favorite artist of all time.

Cut the tracklist in half- listen ... read more

Young Thug - scared
90

No idea why people aren't messing with this cause i've been addicted since it's came out

When you look at the song as a whole Thug is barely on it but he certainty makes his presence warranted because his vocals are great. The real standout here tho is easily the production because HOLY SHIT it's beautiful. The progression the beat has throughout the song is genuinely incredible and that beat switch gives me goosebumps every time.

Even if the vocals are from like 2018 this ... read more

Playboi Carti - Die Lit
90

First heard this album back in middle school and have been defending it pretty consistently since. So many debates with people calling this album, lazy, uninteresting, or lacking any talent, and I've always argued that they had to relisten and look at it differently.

Ear candy is the best way I've heard this album described- every sound whether it be the production or Carti's voice itself, just sounds incredible in the ear. Hard deep bass lines, the bouncy synths, crisp drums- ... read more

Playboi Carti - Whole Lotta Red

I just entered my first year of college and music is pretty easily one of my favorite topics to bond with people over- It has come up in plenty of conversations I have with new people and this is always the first album I recommend to someone that hasn't heard it. It's pretty easily the body of work in music that feels the most like me (for better or for worse). I ADORE this album, and I think it pretty easily sums up my music taste perfectly.

I could write for a long time about why I ... read more
