Slipknot - The End, So Far

the production and electronics surrounding at least the majority of the tracks is really really good, and I do like the glitchy dystopian atmosphere they're trying to go for, but the actual songs tend to be really bland and uninteresting with very few exceptions. most of these just do the exact same shit they were doing before but with a slightly different atmosphere and without the charm that came with those, and the vocals can be really rough in spots even for Corey. there are some exceptions ... read more

Nurse with Wound - A Sucked Orange

a very mixed bag, with some songs being really really good, many others being mediocre and meaningless, and a few others being actually bad. I certainly can appreciate the innovation here and it is quite impressive for its time, but many songs should have either been blended with others (Spiral Theme and I'm a Frayed Knot are amazing enough on their own tho) or scrapped entirely.

what a coincidence that 2 of my top 5 records for 2023 sound demented and almost nervous in a sense. I mean, this album definitely deserves that top 5 as not only is the wordplay and lyrical content spectacular and the production is amazing, but it also has both an engaging and disturbing narrative (both of which I love) that helps guide the record into something so impactful yet also so damn catchy. while I do mostly prefer the calmer and more atmospheric pieces of the record, the demented ... read more

The Body - I Have Fought Against It, But I Can't Any Longer.

despite all the noise and the screaming, there is just something so tragic and unsettling that truly makes this record special. some songs are more chaotic/more tragic than the others, but for the most part, there is a nice balance that grants the listener both a harrowing and haunting experience. the production is amazing and the idea to use samples from other songs in your discography is certainly intriguing. and the guest vocals from Kristen Hayter/Lingua Ignota? while they may not ... read more

genuinely one of the best debut records I have ever heard. it's truly astonishing how well-written and emotional this album is, on top of the instrumentals being overall spectacular. and above that, this has some of the best material I've heard in quite a while, with I Don't Love and The Big Gloom namely being standouts. even some of the lesser tracks on this thing are amazing, and the best are just out of this world. it's amazing, I would highly recommend giving this a listen. it will be ... read more

depressingly beautiful indie rock from start to finish, and truly filled with heart and emotion. it's truly a tragedy that we lost an artist with so much potential.

"@dawgebredd the aoty algorithm recommended it to me because i listen to a lot of noise music, and actually i thought it was alright, the first track was amazing and heaven is a buzzing amp went hard but other than those two i thought that it was mediocre and nothing from them really stood out, i really didn't like the second track either hey you have potential, it just wasn't for me personally!"

On Dsnikles's review of Agv - Crawl
"looked into it and turns out the album is about the artist's fantasy about being raped, beaten, and murdered (which was sparked by a situation that caused a miscarriage and the artist was unable to walk, hence the title) and follows a story where they are kidnapped, raped, beaten, and ultimately killed and thrown in a lake, which is why there are so many 0s and it has such a low score also from what i've seen in the various reviews it's not a good album anyways"

"@ozelzam13 i'm moving on from this (after this message), i really don't want to clog up this comment section arguing with you back and forth, espeically since this is a music site. just know that i know the phrase refers to the jordan river and the mediterranean sea, but it simply refers to historical palestine, i think it's supposed to be symbolic of palestine's perserverence and power over the years instead of actually advocating for any sort of removal of israel from the map and subsequent genocide of jewish people. take care 🙂"
On ozelzam13's review of Ethel Cain - من النهر (From the River)
"@ozelzam13 i'm sorry, but how does it suggest that israel should be eliminated for palestine to be free? i'm genuinely curious, because as far as i know, the phrase simply shows solidarity and support for the palestinian people, and anything that twists it into something negative or advocating for violence seems to me like either a biased interpretation or complete and utter propaganda."
On ozelzam13's review of Ethel Cain - من النهر (From the River)
"@ozelzam13 this is a HUGE reach in suggesting that support for the palestinians means condoning any sort of violence against israelis. hamas is not representative of palestine and its people at all, just like how the israeli government's actions are not representative of israel or its people. please can you just develop some common sense??!?!"
