Another great cover album! I am really enjoying his cover albums as of late. Aside from Under The Red Sky but let’s not talk about that! I really like this album!
An album full of rather long music. I’m not opposed to it at all! I love when Geordie and his boys can take the time to dazzle with their beautiful production and fascinating lyricism! I do think it’s better than their debut but it’s still got some mild flaws to it.
And we’re back again! His discography is becoming more up and down with every release! He’ll do a great album then something that’s middling or even bad, then another great one! This is a great cover album! I don’t care what anyone says! This album is great! The only song I can’t say that I love is Froggie Went a Courtin’. The song’s a bit corny but the album as a whole flies by and it’ll be over before it even began! I liked it a lot!
And we’re back down here again ladies and gentlemen. We’re back down in the pit. This is one of his worse efforts. A cover album full of mid music. Sounds familiar. Bad album.
What a step back into the spotlight for Bob! His discography has had a lot of ups and downs and this isn’t his biggest step back up but it’s one of them! After a string of albums that were just in the range of mediocre-good, this is the first one since Infidels, where I can really say that it’s really great! A powerhouse album of his discography and a serious step up from what he was doing!
A pretty good album! Nothing really that special about it but nowhere near a dud at all. There’s a lot of the album that’s pretty great! There’s a few not great songs but nothing really bad. I think it’s definitely overhated.
After hearing Preacher’s Daughter, I was intently awaiting her next EP or LP. What we received nearly three years later was Perverts and…well it’s certainly something isn’t it? It feels like listening to a movie in a way. More specifically, it feels like listening to a Charlie Kaufman movie. From start to finish a surreal experience. Strange, unnerving, and complex. An album that’s hard to explain and only Hayden knows the meaning right now. In a way it reminds me ... read more
Whether you like Bob Dylan or not. You gotta admire his ability to consistently change his style. He kept up with the times in music, switching from Folk in the sixty's to rock in the later sixty's to gospel in the 70's, then to Pop-rock in the 80's. A lot of great stuff here! Dark Eyes is easily my favorite track.
This is not as bad as Saved but it’s still not good. The Groom’s Still Waiting at the Alter is a brilliant song! Genuinely the best of the album by far! That song rocks! A very obvious standout on an album that just isn’t that. A bad album but at least it’s not worse than Saved. It’s gonna be hard to be worse.
Why did you have to go so earlier Mac? Why? We love you and we miss you, Mac.
Just straight up gospel at this point. I do not like gospel, and this is a step down from his last album. So we’re slowing seeing a bit of a downfall for Bob. I know he’ll get back to his roots eventually but as of right now, this is not enjoyable for me at all. My favorite track on the album is Gonna Change My Way of Thinking. That’s a great song g
For those who know me personally, I don't like gospel music. This sits on a wire between folk rock and gospel and it sort of leans in the direction of gospel more than anything else. It's got a few pretty good songs. Changing of the Guards is a great song! "Baby, Stop Crying" and "Is Your Love in Vain?" are not great. The album as a whole comes together to make something that's not great nor is it bad. It's just fine. You can expect some middling, maybe ... read more
Having never heard a Godspeed album before, I didn't quite know what to expect. What I did know was that I thought the band name was dumb and shortening it to Godspeed is a much better option, they were instrumental and orchestral ambience, and that Anthony Fantano loved their music. I don't respect all his opinions but I do respect the man for doing what he does and how he does it so boldly. If I could make a Youtube channel I would do all forms of media and follow his grading system ... read more
Directly following the release of The Basement Tapes, I didn’t quite know what to expect with this album! I’m very happy to report that this is excellent! Whereas Blood on the Tracks was an open hearted letter to his audience telling them about his divorce and he sadness. This steers back to his roots. Brilliant storytelling! Beautiful lyricism! Excellent production! Just a top to bottom great album. Favorite track is Hurricane but I’m sure there’s no surprise there
Although rather not a popular opinion, I must say this about The Basement Tapes. I don’t love it that much. It’s enjoyable but the name of one tracks in the album perfectly sums up what I think of the album. Too much of nothing. For 2 of the most influential rock and folk artists of the 60’s and 70’s to come together and make something that kind of bored me was kind of shocking to me. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not bad. Just kind of boring and repetitive. When ... read more
A beautiful, scathing, and tragic album of divorce. The album is practically consistently interesting! It’s one of Bob’s longer albums and I feel like he doesn’t waste a minute of the runtime. That can’t be said for some of his other albums but I’ll be damned if I didn’t absolutely love this album. It’s a magnificent album all the way through and a top tier album of Bob’s discography. There’s too many good tracks to choose a favorite but if ... read more
David Byrne held Talking Heads together. He really held them together. Because unless you can enjoy the 58 minute practically spoken word No Talking, Just Head, you are stronger than I. This is genuinely the scenario of if Talking Heads didn't have David Byrne or his lyrics. This. Is abolute. Garbage. If anyone asks if Talking Heads made anything after Naked, my answer is no, because by all laws of music, this shouldn't exist. They are nothing but mid instruments without David ... read more
This is their worst received album and honestly I can’t see why. This album rips! I absolutely loved it! Every song in this album is unique in its own way! It’s a very fascinating listen! All the way through! I had a great time listening to it! I can’t for the life of me understand why this isn’t received well. It feels like Brian Eno has returned and yet he’s still absent from the record. I’d love to figure out the concept of the album cause this was ... read more
