Oof. This was super mid. A very disappointing sudden drop off in quality from this once extremely promising group! Seriously this takes a turn into the lazier production, more exhausted vocals, weak lyricism, and still Brian Eno-less music.
One of the funniest things about this album is that I can audibly tell that Brian Eno isn’t a producer on this record as it takes a step from Jazz Rock to Art Pop. Do I like this shift? Meh. I still very much enjoy this album but due to the fact that Brian Eno isn’t visible within the production of this album kind of brings this down a little. Once again I don’t dislike this album! The score will reflect my feelings towards it! It’s a very fun, unique, and poppy album, ... read more
If you’ve never heard the album Speaking In Tongues by Talking Heads! You should! It is jazzy as a motherfucker and it really makes you wanna bustamove
Here’s the Talking Heads I know! This is the shit I love from them! Life During Wartime is easily one of their greatest songs ever! This is on par with Remain In Light! Maybe ever so slightly worse but still very much on par with it!
Another really solid record! Another one with zero misses on it! It’s truly a step up from ‘77 and something that I enjoyed very much!
Just a solid record all across the board! There’s nothing in here that’s bad at all! First Week/Last Week is easily my least favorite but even then, not a bad song! Just a solid record overall!
Still a very good but a few major missteps with some of the songs in here! For example, that Street Fighting Man cover is the worst thing they have ever done for an album. A terrible rendition and something that doesn’t translate well into a rap song in the slightest! Another examples of a mid song is Beautiful World, which is super whispery and I just don’t like it at all. The rest of the album is between good and excellent! The covers of Maggie’s Farm, I’m ... read more
Excellent album! A few really magnificent tracks.
An album that’ll smash you over the head with a guitar! A hell of an album and easily my favorite of Rage’s discography
I must be totally honest with you…I absolutely love this album! It’s to my total surprise that this has somewhat middling reviews. This is the Bob Dylan I’ve been missing right here. Not to say that he wasn’t there with New Morning but this right here really takes me back to times before Self Portrait, which wasn’t too long ago but still. I absolutely loved this album! Just a fun 41 minute breeze of an album! I can’t say that I disliked a single song on this ... read more
It is very possible that Dylan’s discography doesn’t get worse than this. This is just awful! Just…awful! It is so so so bad! It is insanely hard to name a redeeming quality for this album. Listening through the 33 minute run time felt twice as long. Just a really awful album, all the way through. After 12 albums, he once again returns to some very lazily sung covers. Very lazy. And in the last three songs he uses the stupid Nashville Skyline voice. I hate it! This album is ... read more
When it comes to this album, I definitely found it to be extremely enjoyable! But if I had only one takeaway from it, I’d say it’s a bit forgettable. Up to this point there hasn’t really been a forgettable album aside from maybe John Wesley Harding. This album is great yet it kind of bored me. It’s occasionally slow pacing kind of pushed me away from it! My favorite track in the album was The Man in Me. A great song there! This album is something I might forget but do ... read more
A fascinating album! It definitely left a lasting impression on me and I listened to it about 4 months ago on a friends recommendation. Very great album!
This is a…disappointment. Just not good at all. Aside from Days Of ‘49, this album is lackluster track after lackluster track, after lackluster track. I didn’t really know it while I was listening but looked at the writing credits a few times and it just kept saying it was either traditional or written by someone else. I liked it when Bob did it the first time but on your 10th album you’re returning to the traditional music, that’s a strange direction to go in. ... read more
