It most certainly deserves its place in history as one of Dylan’s finer albums, and a great example of The Band’s roots-rock prowess.

Considering that the record was knocked out in the course of three days, its unassuming nature shouldn't be a surprise, and sometimes it's as much a flaw as a virtue, since there are several cuts that float into the ether.

“Man, ‘Forever Young’ sure is a beautiful song, I wonder what song will play next.”
That’s what I said to myself while listening to “Forever Young”. The answer to that question, as it turned out, was “Forever Young” again, but shorter.

However, this bizarre bit of repetition is my only complaint towards this album.

For people who loved the "The Band" albums, this probably is going to be one of the good ones. Unfortunately if you are unable to get the magic from "The Band-Dylan" combo you are not going to be really impressed by this one.

This album was released just one year before "Blood On The Tracks" (1975) which probably totally overshadowed all the possible magic in this one, but on the other hand, was only preceded by "Dylan" (1973) and "Pat Garret and ... read more

Dylan finds his footing on Planet Waves. It lacks a punch but is signifigantly better than past four albums. It is worth nothing, Forever Young is one of Dylans greatest pieces of writing in his career and a personal favorite of mine.
