I don't really have a lot to this about this album tbh. I found almost all of it to be super generic and bland. Some of the riffs could be cool, but the guitars sound so textureless that they just actively make me feel nothing. I also really don't like the vocals here, they sound really grating to me, with the exception being One For The Road, I actually the singing sounds decent there, almost Tame Impala-esque at times. If they leaned more into that style, maybe I would ... read more

This record has been on my to-do list for ages now, mainly 'cause everything I've heard and seen about it made it seem like this incredible and lush experience. And I'd say I was right in my assumption. This is Lauryn Hill's only solo album, and man, if your solo career is going to consist of a singular LP, this is how you do it. A lot of the production on here feels pretty minimalistic and stripped back on most tracks, which causes them to highlight Lauryn ... read more

This prompt in the challenge is always one of the more interesting ones, as it makes you go out of your comfort zone and listen to something you usually don't. The genre I decided to choose was flamenco, and one of the natural albums to pick in this genre is EL MAR QUERER by Rosalia. And man, I really wish I enjoyed this more. I like some of the songs here, and the production at it's best is quite good. Especially the claps used throughout the whole album, I find them ... read more

Metallica made this album after the passing of their bassist, Cliff Burton. And yeah, you can tell that they're not very happy. This album is filled with heavy riffs, aggressive drumming as well as the vocal delivery being very harsh. What definitely stood out for me about this record is how almost minimalistic it is (not sure if that's the right word to describe it). Throughout almost the entirety of the album, the only real instruments are guitars and drums, that's ... read more

This was such a fun switch up after the disappointing Slowdive record. 100 gecs is a duo I've known about for a while, but I never really bothered to engage with any of their work. Well, until today anyway. And I guess you can officially consider me a fan, cause this was really damn good. 1000 gecs is a super short album, clocking in under 30 minutes, but it's a blast the whole way through. The production is very maximalist and chaotic, and the filtered vocals which the ... read more

I'm listened to this yesterday but didn't review it cause I was really tired lol. So I'm doing so today.
Slowdive's self titled is a pretty inrteresting album sonically, at least to me. I can't say I've heard many things that sound like it. Now despite this, as you can probably tell by my rating, I didn't really like it. I just felt that a lot of these songs didn't have much for me to grab onto. A lot of them felt pretty similar, and the ... read more

Out of all the things british people have done, this has gotta be like top 15. BCNR is a band with a style that is so uniquely theirs that it's really hard not to come back to their records. This was the case for their newest album for me, so I imagine this one will be no different. Aside from that, I really enjoyed the pacing of this project. Aside from maybe Snow Globes, no track felt like it dragged on, despite their immense length. Isaac Wood's vocals were also very ... read more

A cloud rap classic. This album explores a lot of different sounds, and it does a lot of them really well. Songs like LVL or Pain have this druggy feel to them, even Rocky's rapping feels a bit sluggish, in a way that adds to the atmosphere. Then you have the no holds barred bangers, like PMW and Fuckin' Problems. The latter one I actually knew before the album, and always loved it. The production and hook slap and the verses flow incredibly well. Obviously, you can't ... read more

Yeah this rocks. All I really need to say. This record spends almost it's entire runtime slapping you with heavy riffs after heavy riffs, and it's only complimented further by the fact that the choruses on this record are top notch. Obviously you have the icons like Numb or Faint, but the tracks that aren't in the billions of streams still keep the same energy. Mike's rapping is very good too, rap rock in general is a combo that still feels really underrated in ... read more

I don't really watch a lot of movies, so for this category I had to choose a soundtrack to a movie I haven't even watched lol. I picked the Across the Spiderverse soundtrack for the fact that I was already pretty familiar with the work of Metro as well as a lot of artists featured here. The fact that it's structured like an actual LP made it a lot more inviting too.
As for the actual album though? It's pretty good, although it's also pretty frontloaded. The ... read more

What an album to start this with. I was pretty familiar with Porter's music before this, having listened to both "Worlds" and "SMILE :D" over a year ago. And while I wouldn't call myself a superfan by any means, I think both of those albums are really damn good. So it was only natural that I would eventually listen to Nurture, especially knowing that this was by far his most praised album. And yeah, I couldn't agree more. While ... read more
Despite the passing of one of their members, De La Soul still manage to make an album that feels uplifting both sonically and lyrically. RIP DAVE
A mainstream R&B record with so many songs could have easily ended up a slog, but Summer manages to make it work very well
I don't love it as much as EUSEXUA, but that's a pretty high and unfair bar to reach. Especially given that is abum is still great.
The middle is a snooze, but the beginning and end are pretty good
