Lyrically potent and increasingly captivating, Serene continues to refine their sound through each new release.
Expectedly a more unpolished and stripped back release, Hanozje's outtakes from their debut EP are still enjoyable and excellently produced.
The last thing the original album needed was another 30+ minutes. With this deluxe edition's additions, NAV's flows feel recycled. The production is still solid but ultimately doesn't change or explore new ground. Overall, this is an album that serves to only undercut itself, its length ensures that this album in its entirety borders on unlistenable. It's also downright insulting to expect an audience to sit through another album worth of material, when most of the ... read more
While the most of the first half of this album is enjoyable, Good Intentions seems to stay static for most of its 49 minute runtime, never changing or evolving stylistically. Instead it runs dry very quickly, resulting in something that is too long to be overall as enjoyable as it should be.
A largely underwhelming project in which Bieber's vocals stand out as one of the few silver linings to an otherwise forgettable album.
The features on this album are one of the main sources of tripe, varying from good to borderline offensive. Clever and Lil Dicky's features come back-to-back, and are easily some of the most jarring and ill-fitting features I have ever had the displeasure of listening to. Post Malone is largely absent too. Quavo and Kehlani are solid and compliment ... read more
With vulnerability and introspection, mgk's foray into the pop punk genre is a fine attempt. Yes, it's generic and doesn't reinvent the wheel, but I don't think that's necessary.
The features also stand out as some of the better moments throughout. Halsey especially excels on 'forget me too', acting as a mirror to mgk, not just sharing the spotlight, but taking it for themselves.
Ultimately, 'Tickets to My Downfall' has its moments, some more ... read more
A decent rock album that sadly often undercuts itself. Steven Tyler's vocal performances across this album are good, but aren't really something I vibe with too much. What I did enjoy was the overall instrumentation across the album, most notably the drum and guitarwork. However, instrumental portions are often featured more in the final third of the tracks, where often they fade out. There's times when the track will fade into another, which is always satisfying, but when this ... read more
An intensely poetic lyricist, Neko Case's 'Middle Cyclone' is an incredibly rich album instrumentally. Enchanting from beginning to end, Case's vocals are also immensely gripping, bearing tremendous presence.
Through an immensely impressive balance between glitchy bitpop and introspective lyrical content, Porter Robinson has crafted a brilliant album that leaves you both empty and full, hopeful and sorrowful, but most importantly, alive.
'Eat a Peach' is truly mesmerizing. An ocean of sound so immense, this immersive record presents thoroughly captivating instrumentation and beautiful vocals.
With great guitarwork and vocals at the foreground, ZZ Top's third album is a solid blues rock project.
