I've never personally been a huge fan of industrial metal, but I wanted to check this one out since it had a cool cover. Hearing "Like Rats" as an opener is honestly mind boggling. All of it is so abrasive and distorted with these tearing vocals and nihilistic viewpoints, and it never slows down throughout the entire album. it's all distorted slop, but there's charm and energy in it. Reminded me of Swans' "Filth.' Super good and entertaining be repetitive ... read more
If you want an album to just smile to this is it. It’s so low-key and beautiful. Nothing is over complicated or right in your face it’s just nice and peaceful. All the instrumentations and samples fit perfectly and it culminates in a fun little jazz indie album. Meow :3
Haven’t reviewed in a bit so I’ve had a lot of time to listen to some good albums and what a good way to start with a Bright Eyes album. I absolutely loved this thing since I’m a pretty big folk and indie fan. The first thing I want to compliment is the writing. All the songs stand out so well in how they’re written and it offers loads of variety in topics that range from addiction to modern politics. It’s all just great. The vocals are also greatly performed ... read more
Good concept executed horrendously. All the beats just kinda sound the same and the hooks, I’m looking at you Antichrist, an abysmal. The lyricism is the same old boring Eminem shtick where he just says a bunch of “offensive” things. Why is he so obsessed with the jenners and kardashians? What’s his beef with Chris reeves. It’s just a boring, confusing, wipeout of an album. BUT, I will say it was a fun bad album kinda like limp bizkit. I laughed a good amount but ... read more
Imma get this out of the way: I do not “hate” opium rappers, but each of them kind of copy each others style and it seems like Ken Carson just hasn’t been creative. He’s just playboy carti microwaved over and over again. It’s the same generic song every time and he’s just not a fun rapper to listen too. I get the appeal but not really.
A jazz rap masterpiece. Every song here (minus hood politics fuck that song) is perfect. The concepts, the instrumentals, and Kendrick’s performances are wonderful. Shoutout to that sexy man Thundercat his voice and bass riffs made me splooge my goo everywhere.
A masterpiece of vaporwave that WhiteWoods sadly couldn’t capitalize on with their later works. Beachwalk is literally my favorite song ever.
Truly a disappointment (Kanye and this album). It’s just stinky. There’s a few good tracks but everything else is just bleh and I always have in the back of my mind what Kanye has done and said, so it’s hard to really support this album.
I’m a sucker for jazzy samples and this project jelqued my winky doodle and met my needs. It’s a great emotional album and every song is solid. “Riot!” Might be one of the best outros ever.
One of my first exposures to rock was this album and I recently revisited it and was absolutely blown away. Every track on hear makes me moan. All the guitars and vocals and drums and bass and riffs and literally everything is great. It’s short but every single song on here is no doubt almost perfect.
