Opens with one of the generational bangers of all time, and so it can't quite keep the energy up the rest of the album but she comes quite close
I think that it sounds pretty good, but definitely significantly less so by Pink Floyd standards. I think the story is a little hard to follow, and kind of loses the core focus by the end. In several ways, just sort of less substantial than the other heavy-hitters that the band has put out
I don't want to say the hate is forced, but it might be sliiightly forced. I do think the most egregious crime this album commits is being way too long.
I think my inability to understand the lyrics is in my favour, because the lyrics could be terrible for all I know but I just won't know. The range of sounds is actually quite good, which alleviates at least some of my gripes with album length. The one exception to this is the drums. About 80% of the songs uses the same sounding ... read more
Close your eyes long enough and you can start to believe you're listening to a less subtle Amyl and the Sniffers.
Revoke my ally card because if this is "Queercore" (whatever that is), then I'm not a fan. Based, but hit-you-in-the-face-with-a-brick unsubtle
nodding along to the themes of black empowerment and beauty as a white guy
Easily the most mature and sophisticated Mac has sounded so far. As has been said many a time, visiting this album with the knowledge of his passing definitely adds a layer, but discard that element and you're still left with a really good Rap album (even if Faces still remains far more interesting)
More aligned with what I expected from Alice in Chains coming from Jar of Flies. Avoids my biggest complaint I typically have with Metal: bad vocals (even if he has a bit of the "Grunge accent" going). I might prefer the general sound of Jar of Flies, but this album is far more complete and hard-hitting
I've begun untangling the web of collaborative projects amongst 90's Southern Hip-hop originators, and it goes oddly deep. I had remembered the name "Gnarls Barkley" being one I should look out for, and so I was drawn to this duo comprised of producer Danger Mouse and vocalist Cee-Lo Green.
Danger Mouse is an incredible producer. This isn't new information. "St. Elsewhere" is another fantastic showcase of his producing talent, with some great support from ... read more
I aspire to be a fraction as good as the drummer on this album.
I think "A Love Supreme" really just highlights all the best elements of jazz. It's incredibly chaotic and seemingly random at times, but everything fits together purposefully to create this cohesive piece
The first of the albums I've heard released this year that I can wholeheartedly recommend. Maybe isn't the most innovative or one-of-a-kind, but it sounds incredible and can absolutely hit for any fans of shoegaze or just a dreamy atmosphere in music
Justin can definitely carry a note, but the album gets carried HARD by some really awesome production
Quirky, but not overly boundary-pushing to a listener in 2025, thus hard to really dig into
"Perverts" is weird. I understand to a degree why it was released as an EP despite the length, as its definitely far less thoroughly dense or intricate as something like Preacher's Daughter.
This isn't to say that it isn't thematically layered, however. The main driving idea behind Perverts is, un-shockingly, coping with repressive ideas of sex and sexuality (mostly as is put forward by the church). The very...VERY few lyrics point towards this direction, as well as ... read more
Man, idk what to say about a classical jazz album. Sounds great; smooth, and mellow. Prefer the more experimental works from Davis like Bitches Brew
Sounds insane. My one major critique is that instead of using buildup to justify these explosive moments, they occur all the time. While it makes the music sound incredible, it somewhat cheapens what would otherwise be orgasmic-level climaxes
Heartfelt, occasionally lively, and always bittersweet. I expected a sort of Midwest Emo slog, but was incredibly pleasantly surprised. A very moving 45 minutes
Seems like an album that'd be even more impressive placed within the context of when it came out and who released it, but even so the enveloping atmosphere of dark jams definitely works. Pipe Organs always slap
Remi Wolf has been on an insane hot streak since from this debut to her newest album: Big Ideas. She continues to be one of the most interesting, energetic, and promising artists in the modern Pop scene.
Juno is so much fun from the second it starts to the moment it ends. It always finds something new to do, and always gets you moving
