i’ve left aoty in favor of rym but i decided to leave one more review to support this album. this is gonna define the 2020s, one of the most important albums that will drop for a long time
When i first listened to this i gave it an 80, which is usually what i give an album that i really enjoy but doesnt do anything special for me. But this week, i have been reborn. I see it now, this became an all timer by the time i did my third listen, and at this point i’ve gotta be around listen 30, and am asking myself if it’s top five all time for me.
The beauty of this album comes from how it rides the line of Melancholy and Hope, which lets it shift depending on your mood. i ... read more
this just clicked for me. i’ve always thought it was overrated but now i fear i was wrong. 80>>>90 with definite room to grow
massive gambino fan, and while i love this album, it just falls flat where most of his other albums soar for me. i definitely want it to grow and me and could see it doing so, but for now it sits relatively low in his discography for me. would have been better with all the gilga radio songs.
edit: 70>80, it’s clicking
kinda sucks that some great parts from 3.15 are missing but the mixes are waaay better on this. plus, i have human sacrifice on streaming. i’ve waited years for this, im very happy :) cant WAIT for the next album
look i get it, kendrick has better, whatever. But this has to be my favorite album of his man. Everyone has those albums that just grab you and make you feel a type of way that nothing else does, something that just cuts through all the bullshit and speaks directly to your soul, this is one of those albums for me. So, again, this is my favorite kendrick album, easily.
i’ve reviewed this before, when i was first getting started here. The original was alienated from any personality and sounded like an ai mimicking an Anthony Fantano. So, with a recent relisten, i decided to delete the old review and rating and do a brand new one. (89 > 100)
This will be a review that touches on my thoughts about music criticism, and what defines/justifies a “good” album.

i can’t even even explain how i feel about this. perfect album.
the most underrated pumpkins project by a huuuge amount.
this is part four of my pumpkins review dive.
Adore is The Smashing Pumpkins in their most emotional and mellow sound. The whole album is a turn from their roots, but it still has the feeling of a Smashing Pumpkins record.
Adore uses more instrumental instruments, while adding in the use of synths, crafting a very dreamy gothic sound.

Mellon Collie and The Infinite Sadness is bursting with melancholic rock genius.
This is part three of my Smashing Pumpkins Dive, in honor of me seeing them live.
The Smashing Pumpkins do something legendary with this album, they crafted a 2 hour, 28 song album, with no filler, that paints a constantly growing, melancholic, magical, spacey picture with each and every song. continuing the grunge sounds that they started with, but adding in dreamy aspects of pop.

Siamese Dream is THE grunge album.
this is part two of my Smashing Pumpkins dive, in honor of me seeing them live!
Siamese Dream is my favorite from the band, i also feel like it’s the most common favorite, and for good reason! it’s so great.
I mentioned the guitar tones on my Gish review, and i wanna bring it up again here. holy hell, what a perfect sounding guitar. the entire album has some of the best production and sound work i’ve ever heard, im so in love with the vibe ... read more
I’m seeing pumpkins in a couple days so i thought i’d relisten to their albums (well, the good ones.) and review them.
Gish is oozing pure potential, potential that was absolutely used. It’s heavy but also mellow, and it’s so warm sounding. the sound of the pumpkins guitars are unmatched and completely unique, in my opinion, those sounds are what make the Smashing Pumpkins so great.
it’s very easy to see how The Smashing Pumpkins would grow from this album, ... read more
fuck man, this is amazing.
usually i listen to an album once, think about it, review it, and then move on. slightly adapting my score if i feel it needs changing. But man, i knew this album had to be different. i knew this spectacle of sound needed to be understood better. I’ve listened to this like 20 times, it’s just insane. this is one of those albums that’s gonna follow me forever, i can’t wait for the memories i attach to this.
EDIT: 90 -> 95 -> 100
