Mile End - 2023 Promo

Holy sh*t this is awesome. Thank you Fantano for putting Avarice in the best tracks of the week which led to me discovering this.

Deafheaven - Sunbather

Ok fine, you win blackgaze. I thought I was going to hate this cause this album has three things that are hard for me to like: long songs, black metal elements, and shoegaze elements. However, shoegaze combined with black metal is a very unique experience. This album takes what I can like about both genres and combines it together. The long songs aren’t that boring either.

ReMark - Destined To Fall

I’m reviewing this for “Remi’s Reviews.” Hey Remi, you seem like a great person and you definitely have a love for music. I think it’s cool that you want to make your own music, especially one that promotes modern alternative metal and metalcore. However I gotta be honest with you. I didn’t really like this track. It did a lot of things that reminded me of bad omens and sleep token. This track is WAY too long. I had a lot of thoughts but I honestly ... read more

Metallica - 72 Seasons

I don’t hate Metalllica at all. I’ve listened to them ever since I was little, and they’re one of the bands that got me into metal. However, this album is pretty much pointless. Just listen to their other albums

Metallica - If Darkness Had a Son
30

You know when you’re shopping with your mom and she bumps into one of her friends that she hasn’t seen in a while. They’ve been talking for at least 10 minutes and you need to be somewhere else so you try to slowly move away from your mom hoping that she will follow you. That is what the riff passages on this song feel like. There’s so much unneeded fluff that it just makes me mad. The only reason why this isn’t getting a 0 is because if you go on YouTube and put ... read more

NF - HOPE
20

oh my god. I normally don’t listen to rap, but a lot of people in the metal community like NF for some reason so I was like ‘screw it.’ these songs have some of the corniest and dumbest lyrics I’ve ever heard

Architects - The Classic Symptoms of a Broken Spirit
20

WOW. This is somehow worse than For Those That Wish to Exist. spit the bone literally sounds like a skillet song. I’m glad that these songs aren’t catching much Spotify streams

Architects - For Those That Wish To Exist

This album is sad, not intentionally but accidentally. As a drummer, the drums infuriate me with how basic that are. This is how NOT to change your sound. They became alternative generic metalcore

The Devil Wears Prada - Color Decay
15

This is probably gonna disappoint a lot of people, but I think this album is extremely overrated. I don’t understand the love that the metalcore community has for this album and that’s ok. I just with I liked it as much as they did. A lot of the songs on here sound the same specifically with watchtower and sacrifice.

Edit: actually I think I was being too nice. The vocals on Twenty-Five are so annoying, and Broken is really boring.

System of a Down - Toxicity
100

I mean, it’s f*cking Toxicity by System of a Down. How could I NOT love this album? This was actually the first full album I ever heard in my life. I bought it on Apple Music and listened to it on the bus to and from my high school. Peak alternative metal. My favorite album of all time.

Poppy - Spit
99

Best cover of the year so far

Code Orange - Out For Blood
35

I… I thought this band could do no wrong. Then they released this single and it doesn’t even sound like them

Gridiron - No Good At Goodbyes
70

This goes so hard, harder than it should. Some really good metalcore breakdowns with rapping. It shouldn’t work but they make it work.

Knocked Loose - Upon Loss Singles
100

I expected to like this and I love it. The ending breakdown on everything is quiet now when the ambient guitar part came in tickled my brain

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - PetroDragonic Apocalypse; or, Dawn of Eternal Night: An Annihilation of Planet Earth and the Beginning of Merciless Damnation
90

Ok story time. I knew someone who was OBSESSED with King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard as well as Radiohead. I felt bad for her cause everyone was bullying her for constantly bringing up the lizard wizard. I never gave them a chance though cause I don’t like Radiohead (yeah I know my taste in music is bad) and I was worried that I wouldn’t enjoy the lizard wizard and upset my friend for a second time.

That was about 2 years ago, fast forward to today. I’m a big fan of metal ... read more

Sleep Token - Aqua Regia

I tried to like this song cause someone said that sleep token are better at pop than metal, but they fail at both imo

Code Orange - Grooming My Replacement / The Game
80

I was praying that this was gonna be good and it was. Grooming My Replacement is an 80, and The Game is a 85

Sleep Token - DYWTYLM
0

Now this… is sh*t. Somehow has less emotion than modern 30 Seconds to Mars

Sleep Token - Vore
15

This sounds like if a pop band attempted to make a metal song but still wanted to appeal to their fanbase

I don’t get the praise this band has been receiving at all

"The instrumentals accompany the lyrics more properly on dark sun than this album. Like the instrumentals in Pale Moonlight are so dumb because it has lyrics about someone (potentially Rory) 'dancing with the devil' to where it's harming them, and it sounds like a radio rock song meant to motivate people. Like shouldn't the song sound sad or at least off putting?"
On Dayseeker - Creature In The Black Night
"@PoisonBow I haven't listened to dark sun in a while, I don't like either album but I think it is better than creature in the black night because the lyrics and song meanings have a bit more effort into them. Like with Parallel about his father passing away, or with Paper Hearts about Rory sharing that he has been so overwhelmed by the weight of the world that he has a suicidal thought about dying in a car crash"

"@tn3t3ta How can you hate me so much, yet know nothing about me? I’ve given a lot of metalcore albums high ratings. I recently gave the new dying wish album, a metalcore band, a rating definitely higher than a 3/10. There’s nothing wrong with disagreeing with me, but don’t spread misinformation."

"@RemisReviews I don’t think I’ve ever said in my life that pop vocals make something bad. For the genre comment, it is my believe that these bands are more closer to pop than metal. A lot of their songs are just pop tunes featuring metal breakdowns and basic small elements of other genres."

On HomeSession3's review of Slaughter to Prevail - GRIZZLY
"a score of 50 being a "awful score" to me doesn't make any sense cause you're ignoring half of the numbers of quality you could be using to score an album (49 - 0). If you thought this album was worse than a 5/10 "middle of the road score" than you should rate it lower."
