Programmed drums on a metal song? Yes. Cringy Christian lyrics? Yes. Vocals that sound like parody? Yes. Effects on everything that don’t make it sound like metal? Yes.
The only reason why this isn’t a 0 is because the first 8 seconds convinced me that I wasn’t about to hear something horrible
Peak Rap Metal. The riffs and lyrics on this record go so hard
Ok ngl this album hasn’t aged well for me. I probably would’ve given it an 8.5/10 the first time I heard it, but I’m staring to get tired of overproduced deathcore even though I would say this album is more of a metalcore album with its clean choruses. I think this album throws a lot of elements from nu metal as well which I think adds a little flavor to the project. There’s nothing really bad about this LP, I just think they tried to combine too many genres to the point ... read more
Lyrically this project is incredible. I think the instrumentals are a little lacking however.
First off I need to bring up how much I hate the fact that two out of the three songs were released as singles, meaning that there was ONE new song to listen to. When I listened to this bands album last year that I thought was ok, one of my first thoughts was ‘this band is definitely one of those “melodramatic vocals on top of metal riffs bands.”’ I think this EP is pretty solid. I think my biggest complaint is that I felt like I’ve heard this EP before like from ... read more
Riffs and breakdowns were great, the energy throughout was consistently powerful. I think one of my only criticisms is that I’m not crazy about the vocals.
I know it’s weird to see me review a pop album, but there’s a couple reasons why I wanted to listen to this album. I grew up listening to Kesha’s biggest hits like TiK ToK and Die Young ever since I was 8 years old. I started to hear that this album would go into dark themes about “overcoming trauma and depression resulting from her legal battle with her former producer, Dr. Luke.” I got curious and listened to Eat The Acid since it was a single and it gave me ... read more
This goes so hard. Every time this song plays in a room filled with people they start moshing no matter what they’re doing
ew. I guess something positive about the track is that the chorus is kinda catchy but it also doesn’t really connect with the rest of the song and feels lazy. What’s sad is that I know that the vocalist, Jason Aalon Butler, can write good music. Just listen to letlive or Pressure Cracks instead.
It’s hard for me to like a country album as someone who doesn’t like country, so I’m biased but this wasn’t bad. This is pretty soft compared to the country that’s overplayed on the radio. Feeling a 5.5 to a 6 out of 10
Yeah this is probably my favorite metalcore album of 2022. The riffs, breakdowns, and I normally don’t care about the lyrics but damn they were amazing. I think this album is a more creative album than their previous works. I think the clean vocals add more depth and are used cleverly. The only reason why this isn’t a 10 is because of the last track with its 3+ minutes of the same swirl sound, and also the harsh vocals could be more unique.
If you want Dillinger Escape Plan vocals on top of some Every Time I Die riffs then you’ll love this EP
