Code Orange - Grooming My Replacement / The Game
80

I was praying that this was gonna be good and it was. Grooming My Replacement is an 80, and The Game is a 85

Sleep Token - DYWTYLM

Now this… is sh*t. Somehow has less emotion than modern 30 Seconds to Mars

Sleep Token - Vore

This sounds like if a pop band attempted to make a metal song but still wanted to appeal to their fanbase

I don’t get the praise this band has been receiving at all

Bring Me The Horizon - POST HUMAN: SURVIVAL HORROR
90

WOW. I was hoping I was gonna like this cause I haven’t gotten into BMTH… until I finally listened to this. why is kingslayer so f*cking good? WHY? It’s a perfect track! I also like one day the only butterflies left track even though not that many people do. I thought it was a unique way to end this alternative metal/metalcore album. The only reason this isn’t a 100 is cause of ludens in my opinion

Bring Me The Horizon - AmEN!
80

I wish they used Uzi a little more and it’s hard to know where they used Daryl. Still a good track.

Bring Me The Horizon - LosT
75

This song is definitely polarizing. I think I would’ve given this track a 65/100 if I heard it once but it’s grown on me a little. 7.5-8/10

Bring Me The Horizon - sTraNgeRs
45

This song is like… so mid that it hurts. It just feels wayyyy too safe. It’s pretty forgettable to me. 4.5-5/10

Jeromes Dream - The Gray in Between
95

I was worried I wasn’t gonna like this, but DAMN THIS THING SLAPS. The noise elements are great, the screams are brutal, the metal riffs and breakdowns oh my god. Feeling a 9 to a 9.5 out of 10

Edit: I forgot to mention that the only reason why isn’t a 10 is cause of the interludes, even though they aren’t bad I just think could’ve been better maybe? I also want to bring up how good the soft rock elements on this LP are, THEY’RE SO GOOD. I love the length of the ... read more

boom clap, boom boom clap is one of my least favorite things ever. Also that ending breakdown doesn’t match with the song that well, and I love metal breakdowns that come out of nowhere

Sleep Token - The Summoning
9

this song has the potential to be good but the lyrics, vocals, and the ending destroys this song when it could’ve just ended after the 3 minute and 40 second mark

Sleep Token - Chokehold

when the vocals came in I laughed for 20 seconds, this song is so boring and lifeless

Thirty Seconds to Mars - Life Is Beautiful
10

WOW. At first I thought it was meh and then when he got to the chorus holy sh*t. This is worse than stuck. I guess that’s what happens when Dan Reynolds helps you with your homework (song writing)

Thirty Seconds to Mars - Stuck
25

the song wasn’t that great and then the chorus happened with that overproduced bass

Poppy - EAT (NXT Original Soundtrack)
100

Poppy, I need more of this please. If you made an LP out of this it would be my AOTY. The mathcore breakdown on Say Cheese is glorious. Your ability to create great alternative metal is proved by Dark Dark World. I’d probably rate this a 9.5 or a 10 out of 10

Knocked Loose - A Tear in the Fabric of Life
99

Knocked Loose my beloved. Very very good EP. Has a lot of surprising twists by combining metalcore, hardcore, and deathcore more. If you hate metalcore I recommend you check out this EP.

Sleep Token - Take Me Back to Eden
5

Take me to eden, I’ll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies (thall riff). This is probably the most overrated band of the year. I’ve just been called stupid by not liking this band and that’s probably hurting my opinion of them. I’m sorry

Edit: I lowered it from 30 to 5 cause I truly got nothing from this album. It’s an insult to call this album “alternative metal” cause it isn’t. The screaming and occasional Djent breakdown does not make ... read more

Crown The Empire - DOGMA
25

Crown The Empire was the band that got me into metalcore and is the reason why I like “genericore” or generic metalcore. I was hoping that this was going to be their best album since I thought In Another Life and Dancing with the Dead were their least generic songs in a while. If this album came out around early 2022 I would’ve been very disappointed, but since the later released singles weren’t as good, it lowered my expectations. I write this review in the hope that a ... read more

This album is one of the craziest things I’ve heard and probably will hear this year. There’s some things that I think I need to think about before properly rating this one. I don’t think it’s perfect but for what it is, it’s good.

Edit (July 17): yeah this thing has grown on me. Added 10 more points and possibly more. I think this album does mathcore extremely well. The heavy parts are crushing and the soft parts are smooth. Feeling a 9 to a 9.5 out of 10

Jesus Piece - ...So Unknown
90

This is just… everything I want from this kind of metalcore/hardcore punk/metallic hardcore punk/whatever you want to call it. Amazing vocals, lyrics, heavy bass, riffs, breakdowns, and also some drum grooves that were very unique that sounded like funk beats (specifically on Gates of Horn).

"The instrumentals accompany the lyrics more properly on dark sun than this album. Like the instrumentals in Pale Moonlight are so dumb because it has lyrics about someone (potentially Rory) 'dancing with the devil' to where it's harming them, and it sounds like a radio rock song meant to motivate people. Like shouldn't the song sound sad or at least off putting?"
On Dayseeker - Creature In The Black Night
"@PoisonBow I haven't listened to dark sun in a while, I don't like either album but I think it is better than creature in the black night because the lyrics and song meanings have a bit more effort into them. Like with Parallel about his father passing away, or with Paper Hearts about Rory sharing that he has been so overwhelmed by the weight of the world that he has a suicidal thought about dying in a car crash"

"@tn3t3ta How can you hate me so much, yet know nothing about me? I’ve given a lot of metalcore albums high ratings. I recently gave the new dying wish album, a metalcore band, a rating definitely higher than a 3/10. There’s nothing wrong with disagreeing with me, but don’t spread misinformation."
On PRESIDENT - King of Terrors
"@RemisReviews I don’t think I’ve ever said in my life that pop vocals make something bad. For the genre comment, it is my believe that these bands are more closer to pop than metal. A lot of their songs are just pop tunes featuring metal breakdowns and basic small elements of other genres."

On HomeSession3's review of Slaughter to Prevail - GRIZZLY
"a score of 50 being a "awful score" to me doesn't make any sense cause you're ignoring half of the numbers of quality you could be using to score an album (49 - 0). If you thought this album was worse than a 5/10 "middle of the road score" than you should rate it lower."
