This one is fun, but the breakdown kinda ruins it for me. If you like modern deathcore you’ll love this one
I appreciate this track for trying to shake things up by not having a typical “big, huge, vocalist sounds like a demon” breakdown
The breakdowns on this EP are screaming “notice us please senpai, we’re just like Lorna Shore.” The clean vocals are meh. Overall not really feeling this EP.
Deathcore banger. The ending breakdown didn’t go too far and the double bass section in the chorus was awesome
This was my ultimate guilty pleasure album of 2022. If I came back to it I would probably not like it as much. This is just a fun album, doesn’t mean you’re gonna like it though.
Edit (65->20): After relistening to this, I believe that I originally found this album to be better than what it actually is cause I hadn't heard these genre combinations before and didn't really have anything to compare it to. Now having listened to strong albums to compare it to, this is ... read more
I mean… it’s not great but I think they use billy the best they could’ve to be honest. At least it’s not Out For Blood. Hopefully the album sounds more like Grooming My Replacement
Edit: Fantano put this in the best tracks of the Weekly Track Roundup 7/24/2023. Rare time when Fantano likes a nu metal song more than me
This is my introduction to this band, and now I’m looking forward to their album in September
This song is creatively weird. I never thought electronics and hardcore punk could sound so good together. I’m sorry, but this is a 10/10 track for me
this Parkway Drive album… is NOT GOOD (explosion).
Metalcore classic Parkway Drive have been releasing music ever since 2004 and are still going strong since
Don’t Close Your Eyes. While I haven’t really clicked with this band, I can’t deny that their vocalist Winston McCall has some extremely brutal unclean vocals for the genre and the instrumentals have some really solid riffs and breakdowns, especially on and before their album Atlas. So even though they ... read more
This is a powerviolence album that I heard about a lot in metalcore discord servers and how a lot of people thought it was one of the best albums of the year. I think this album is solid when it comes to its hardcore elements that are super short and brief but hit you hard enough to where you want to come back to it. The album is also super varied and infuses genres like jazz, and R&B, but I don’t feel that those sections are that memorable to me. However, if you want some hardcore ... read more
In terms of someone who doesn’t really listen to Pop Soul, I think this project was fine, but nothing really stuck out to me. Sadly this was forgettable. Feeling a 5 to a 5.5 out of 10.
The first time I heard this record I thought it was ok, but I also wasn’t really into mathcore yet. Well now after revisiting this record I can say that my mind has changed. This album does a lot of cool switch ups and vocal parts. I also liked the jazz parts on the record that occasionally popped up. Title Track is so great with its calmer sections to help let you get a breather before the chaos in that track.
This is the first full LP that I’ve listened to by The Dillinger Escape Plan and I wish I would’ve done that sooner. This album has some of the most technical drumming I’ve ever heard, which done by none other than Billy Rymer. The unclean vocals done by Greg Puciato are brutal and his cleans are also pretty good in the mathcore genre. This album could take years to analyze. If I had to give a negative criticism though, it would be that I feel that the title track is a little ... read more
