An extremely aggressive and unpredictable album. The time signatures are all over the place, and the instrumentals are booming and noisy. The perfect formula for a flawless album.
Ween kind of went out with a whimper on this album. It has good songs, but surprisingly a bunch of Ween's worst material is on this album. "The Fruit Man" and "Spirit Walker" being two primary examples. But there are a bunch of amazing tracks to make up for it.
It is comfortable to say that this is the worst Ween album not counting the friends ep.
Ween Re-Reviews Pt. 9
57 -> 58
The cheese scale on this EP is off the charts. This is definitely Ween's worst project by far.(Not counting their pre-GWS stuff). However, "Slow Down Boy" and "Light Me Up" are the saving graces of the album. They are both really good songs.
Ween Re-Reviews Pt. 8
An awesome collection of B-Sides. Honestly, I feel like some of these songs should have been on actual albums. You're telling me that they threw away songs like "Gabrielle" "Did You See Me?" and "Someday"? And some songs I can see why that they are B-sides.
Ween Re-Reviews Pt. 7
98 -> 100
I admit it, this is yet another perfect album. This album is a powerhouse, their golden standard. Ween has not sounded better than this. It's full of emotions and genuinely fantastic instrumentation that can easily catch someone off guard. The album's concept of divorce is encapsulated in this album perfectly as well, it has a strange melancholic feeling to it that can make you feel happy at some moments and tearing up in the next.
Ween Re-Reviews Pt. 6
90 -> 96
The most accessible Ween album by far. This one does way less genre-bending than Chocolate and Cheese and Quebec. This album is nearing perfection, it still has the charm that Ween has even without the weird songs.
Ween Re-Reviews Pt. 5
95 -> 100
I am tired of hiding the fact that this is pretty much a perfect album. Not only is it responsible for the creation of SpongeBob. But it's also one of Ween's most charming and fun projects. Every single track has it's own new thing to bring to the table, from sea shanties to some of the best experimental rock ever to whatever Pink Eye is supposed to be. All in all, this album is a timeless classic that gets better as it ages.
Ween Re-Reviews Pt. 4
91 -> 94
The transition to more serious sounding albums begin. This album would do greatly without Candi or The HIV Song, but it's still a very influential album in their discography.
Ween Re-Reviews Pt. 3
79 -> 82
I still think that this is the worst one out of the brown trilogy. But it kind of clicked for me more when I relistened to it. All though it does have a few bland and uninteresting moments, it's still a good ending to the brown trilogy.
Ween Re-Reviews Pt. 1
81 -> 90
Took a lot of time to finally click with me. My point still stands that sometimes random BS can make a good album. Relistening to this was a joy, it had many funny moments that I must've skimmed over first listen.
Unironically might be my favorite country album. It may sound like generic country on paper, but it has some of the funniest and dumbest lyrics ever. The perfect parody of a stereotypical country album.
It’s Primus, of course I’m gonna give it a high score. This has to be the best thing they’ve made in 9 years.
Even though it isn't as good as are you lonely, these are some great follow-up songs. Still has the gut wrenching vibe that the previous album had, but way more toned down, but that last song made me feel a sense of sorrow and happiness at the same time.
I really like the direction Shteppi is going in. I hope she does more like this in the future.
Gonna keep this review brief. Shteppi’s new album is absolutely one of the most gut wrenching albums of this year.
It's like their previous album "The Hunter", but they fixed the major flaws they had on that album. I feel like this album has more highlights than the last, like "The Motherload", "High Road", the title track, and "High Road". Nothing much else to talk about, this one is really good.
After a generational 4 album run, they release this slight downgrade of an album. Don't get me wrong, it's still very good. But for Mastodon's standards, this feels weak. We do have amazing highlights like "Black Tongue", "Curl of the Burl", and the slightly underrated "Dry Bone Valley".
