Listening to Sorni Nai evokes a sense of peace. It's as if you've been transported somewhere north, far from civilization, allowing you to forget about the boredom of everyday life.
The instrumental is pretty simple, but it's enough. The old radio interludes hits hard, especially if you speak the language. Clean vocals are unique and aesthetically pleasing, which cannot be said about extreme ones. Maybe it's just not my thing, I don't like it at all. Another negative ... read more
It sounds like Bruno Mars discovered the hardcore scene, ahah.
I can't say I was blown away with the album, but it certainly surprised me. Both the vocals and the instrumentals are a blend of pop-rock/funk/hard rock and hardcore. It's very unusual. It would be cool to see more experiments like this in the modern rock/metal scene.
FAVORITE: Melody Again, Unwanted Again.
An atmospheric EP with beautiful cover art. Yeah, that's all. I wasn't hooked by the music, which isn't bad btw.

Mixed impressions.
At times it was remind of Minecraft (just more progressive), but in places it downed into pure avant-garde and chaos. The transitions were mostly abrupt and meaningless. Even the nice calm piano track "Time Inside the Violet" was overdone, rather than left simple.
FAVORITE: Time Inside the Violet, Mere Survival Is Not Enough.
When the rock/metal scene in your country is very weak, listeners accept the choicest crap as a model.
It's disgusting how much this band is idolized. Musically and ideologically "Король и шут" is an extremely abysmal and objectively weak project.

To collect such talented guys to make a mediocre record, oh wow.
Okay, just kidding, but honestly, the album isn't bad and has some strong hooks. Howard Jones's identical vocals, Jared Dines's powerful guitar work and Josh Gilbert's experience — what could be more legendary?
Overall, I had a pleasant feeling about the album. "SION" is a good one.
FAVORITE: Inside The Hollow, A Constant Reminder, Buried Alive and Wide Awake.
I don't like overproduced projects in modern metal, but this one is different.
"Secrets of the Future" sounds fresh and energetic, combining high-quality mainstream production with progressive elements. Yet, neither contradicts the other.
FAVORITE: Killstar (The Cold World), Dying Light, Sariah.
I like the cover.
"Fragments" starts with relatively acidic tracks, but then transitions into chilled and melancholic ones. They're not bad in themselves, but I felt like something was missing. Musically, the album didn't reach its potential and felt like fragments of something more grown (wow, that's the title of the album).
FAVORITE: May Their Memories Be a Blessing, The End is the Beginning.
"Arka Morgana" deserves attention.
This band as a whole deserves attention!
As I understand it, Myriad Drone haven't changed their sound in the 5 years between their 1st and 2nd albums (maybe it's for the better), as the instrumental lines and vocal style are practically identical to their next album, "A World Without Us."
The record is beautiful, well-made and overall feels solid for its genre.
FAVORITE: Atonement, All Roads Lead, Arka Morgana.
After a thoughtless, empty and stupid image, my man Lizer has shifted gears. Now the songs are filled with meaning, suffering and reflection on society.
But you know what? It still feels weak. It's all mostly naive, primitive and generic, both musically and lyrically.
FAVORITE: Из этого города, Корабли.
A clever fusion of post-black metal, blackgaze and post-metal with some metalcore influence?
I really like the lyrics and the image the band created of themselves. No filth, occultism or satanism, just pure emotional suffering and introspection. It's no wonder that Gaerea stood out from the rest of the BM scene.
FAVORITE: The Poet's Ballet, Wilted Flower, Unknown.
Nostalgia brought me here.
Today the album doesn't seem as wonderful as it did on the day it was released. It's composed of overly intense guitar-oriented songs, and for me that's more of a drawback.
But the tracks are filled with cool catchy ideas that (with more thoughtful arrangements) could have been directed into something truly interesting.
I think "Navigation" is a decent instrumental album. And I'm grateful to this record for inspiring me to play ... read more
Melancholic and beautiful, but tedious.
I liked the instrumental component, which, while simple, is well made. However the vocals are extremely uninteresting and soulless (frankly because of it the EP feels dull).
But overall, "Leaving Time" is a decent shougaze release and I have nothing against it.
FAVORITE: Bloom.
Excellent, high-quality work.
I found it interesting that the band didn't add anything to the arrangements other than guitars and drums. Nevertheless, the instruments are masterfully mixed and sound pleasant.
The vocals are nothing special, but fit into the picture well and for the most part are not annoying.
The album's weak point was probably the lyrics, which struck me as too abstract. So there's no point in delving into them, right?
FAVORITE: Mantras, Night Owl.
No way, these AI visualizers are too bad. Did they really think this would be cool?
I wasn't really into this band before, and maybe "Bleed Out" isn't the best album to introduce them to, but... it's sooo mid. All the songs are written by the same formula. The instrumentals are incredibly boring, the vocals are good but don't save the end result.
I wouldn't say this record is bad, but I can't call it good either.
It's fine as an introduction to the genre for a newcomer, but otherwise...
Sometimes I feel like releases from this category are so lifeless that must have been written by AI. I don't even see the point in adding anything else.
FAVORITE: Let You In.
Political? Perhabs. But Idk, who cares about it?
If we look at this release from a technical point, it's typical pretentious dad rock, with dull decisions and strange attempts of djent introduction.
"Disobey" is a mid metal record. Not good, not bad, just OK.
FAVORITE: No Masters, Learn to Live.
A journey into another dimension.
"Wild Light" is undoubtedly a solid musical work with a distinctive sound based on a blend of electronics and post-rock.
To be honest I expected more. The incredible ideas in most of the tracks weren't fully developed, or at least didn't reach the level I'd hoped for.
FAVORITE: The Undertow, Safe Passage, Blackspots.
You know that feeling when you find an album that opens up a piece of music you never knew existed and you're just so excited.
Firstly, it has one of the best intros in metal I've ever heard. Secondly, the guitar tone is so good that seems almost perfect. And finally, the lyrics are masterfully connected with geochronological periods, yet at the same time stand alone, so the songs can work without delving into historical geology.
FAVORITE: The Cambrian Explosion, Devonian, ... read more
Chill and beautiful ambient.
The album didn't really hits me, 'cause it seemed too abstract. The problem is that some songs have the rudiments of something interesting, but they didn't rises.
FAVORITE: Lys, Nothing Motion.
