Generic, boring, and some of the most lazy music to be released this year. This guy has worked with some of the biggest names in music, but can't figure out how to make decent music of his own.
Although their group name and album title are pretty cringe-worthy, Ho99o9 created a very solid experimental hip hop/punk album, reminiscent of Show Me The Body's Corpus tape from March, in United States of Horror.
With this being my introduction to the group, I have to say that I was impressed with their ability to do a great job of combining hip hop and punk cohesively, better than any other "punk rap" projects which hold that name loosely. Granted, the majority of the project is ... read more
Young Thug has some good bars, although nowhere near his best. What really steals the show is this beat. Holy fuck did Mike Will go off here.
The shoegaze genre is one that made absolutely no sense to me when I was initially introduced to it. Why even use guitars if you're going to use to much reverb? And why sing so softly, I can't understand the vocals! However, after a few listens of some of the more popular shoegaze albums, I eventually fell head over heels for the genre. Everything about it captivated me, from the complex and layered songs of My Bloody Valentine, the ethereal dream pop from Slowdive, to the heavily ... read more
Absolutely crazy. Excited to hear some new stuff from DG.
10 minutes that perfectly exemplify the two very different sides of Lil Ugly Mane's music. Starting with an absolutely filthy, heavy banger which consists of LUM's darker and less introspective side, moving cleanly into a personal tale of a friend who lost everything. The short interludes between the two major parts of the song really do a good job of setting up the mood for what is to come, bringing down the hype and allowing you to focus back on lyrics.
One of, if not the best, singles from Travis. From the beat, to the hook and all three verses, this is some of the best trap to come out of the last few years. I don't understand why a lot of people complained about the length, I think 7 minutes is a good length for it, and it's a length that is pretty uncommon on hip hop songs.
One of the most promising artists on PC Music right now. Can't wait for a full length or even an EP of some sort.
The beat and hook go so hard, in usual Secret circle fashion. Lil Ugly Mane's verse is pretty forgettable though, but Wiki absolutely kills it. Also, respect for actually putting the sound of a fidget spinner in this song.
While completely alienating their original core fanbase in the process, Linkin Park puts everything that sucks about the music industry in 2017 into one album. Shitty rap features, overblown EDM production, and songs that have absolutely no redeeming qualities whatsoever. Literally everything is bad: the title, the cover, and of course the music itself. Not many albums deserve this low of a score, but Linking Park really proved that they can make one deserving of it.
Skate punk origins. Some of the more poppy-punk of the 80's, but still had a hardcore feeling to it in places throughout the album (my original review got deleted so I don't feel like typing it back up again, sorry).
fav tracks: Amoeba
Damn near everything is improved to the best of Simon & Garfunkel's abilities on their second to last album. Their harmonizing, production, lyrics, and formatting of an album with progression to it are what all come together to show the two artist's full potential.
The social and political commentary in the lyrics (Save the Life of My Child) show how Paul Simon took into consideration the world around him in the writing process, and did a great job of embedding it into the album both ... read more
On one of the duo's more forgettable (but still outstanding) studio efforts, Simon & Garfunkel piece together songs that were rushed to capitalize on the success of the previous album, and songs that were used in The Graduate. Most of the songs have a very eerie feel which I have come to attribute to the group, sounding mysterious and at times almost frightening (Scarborough Fair), which is a trait that countless folk musicians chose to use in their own music years after this.

In nearly an hour of meandering, noisy drones, Eye Candy's first album is a solid effort. They stray away from the basic whispers-and-reverb take on shoegaze and instead head in the direction of psychedelic and lo-fi recordings that draw out the effects used, rather than smash them together. Lots of the melodies are smooth and sugary, and there is always enough substance to keep listening through some of the longer songs (up to nearly 14 minutes). The vocals, though somewhat sparse, were one ... read more
Shills will be shills. I don't want to discourage anyone from making music, especially when I know they're gonna be reading this, but this is so terribly, offensively bland. You ever heard any top 40 rapper's verse on some pop single (i.e. Ariana Grande, Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj) ? Because that's how all of these verse are. Dude's enunciation is horrendous, sounds like he is reading these bars as he raps them. And every beat is painfully fucking generic.

Adding more electronic production to their music and opting for a guest-packed hip hop project, Show Me The Body's Corpus is a very confusing record for me. On one hand, they have some tracks that go absolutely hard as fuck; great beats and great bars. But on the other, the inconsistency of the project makes it difficult to really understand the specific direction that the band was hoping to take.
The first few songs really focus on aggressive and noisy production with very raw and primal ... read more
