EDIT: havent gone through this entire album as a whole in months. really a terrific piece of electronic pop however i overrated it.
very very satisfying follow up to 2 incredible eps. there was a time where i listened to this LP every morning for 2 weeks, and even when hearing it countless times i cannot find any major flaws. twigs made her own sound, fusing r&b with pop and electronic, which has a very aesthetically pleasing feel to it.
fav tracks: pendulum, two weeks, lights on, ... read more
killer mike and el-p have some of the rawest verses over stellar beats
fav tracks: a christmas fucking miracle, 36" chain, run the jewels, ddfh
EDIT: if a christmas fucking miracle isn't one of the most well written, produced, executed, and underrated songs ever, than i don't know what is. it is by far my favorite rap song.
EDIT: This is one of the first albums I rated on this site, so it's sad to see the original rating go, but this is far from what I thought it was.
a great mixtape from one of the biggest rappers to watch. putting this out for free gave chance the publicity he needed, and deserved, to get his name out.
fav tracks: NaNa, good ass intro, cocoa butter kisses
EDIT: not quite what i thought it was some months ago. but god damn is this a stunning hip hop poject.
the raps are hard, the beats are hard, the themes are truthful. its heavily underrated in the mainstream and deserved a grammy for hip hop album of the year. insane. the production on this LP and the continuing sound from track to track really is what made RTJ2 stand out to me. the lyrical choice could make some writers take a few tips.

the autotune really takes away from the message in this song, however, i really like the synth beats and how this is sung from the pov of Kanye's mother.
EDIT: Gets to be a bit old after so many listens, but damn near a flawless album. Hell of a Life and Blame Game bring this down. Still my favorite Ye album, and Devil in a New Dress is still his best song.
the production on mbdtf is unmatched, along with strong hooks and A-list features including frequent collaborator Jay-Z, Pusha T, Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross, and tons of features from Bon Iver. the story told through this album can be hard to follow at times, but the all-around message is well ... read more
EDIT: okay ive given this a few more listens, and im really not as impressed as many of you are, or as i used to be. this is by no means a bad album (look at the score) but its very overrated. i found myself giving this a 96 months ago, but albums that i liked more lower scores. although, this is still one of the best albums of the year, no doubt
kendrick came up with a strong follow up to good kid M.A.A.D. City, centered on current occurrences. TPAB has a strict tone on the more serious ... read more
EDIT: i havent gone back to this project since it dropped, and i dont feel the need to. looking back, this was a boring album and wasnt really anything groundbreaking or new. i gotta say though, i know there's gonna be is one of the best tracks of this year.
fav songs: seesaw, loud places, i know theres gonna be
