JAY-Z & Kanye West - Watch the Throne
82

easily my favorite collaboration album. the raps were strong, the beats were fast, and the production was superb. i thought that Jay Z outperformed Ye on this LP but they were both very fierce
fav tracks: who gon stop me, no church in the wild, niggas in paris
least fav tracks: that's my bitch

MGMT - MGMT
64

voice variation is a very important thing. i couldn't tell the difference between most of these songs. the fun, psychedelic mgmt that we know and love is gone on this LP, leaving a bland shell behind it, with few tracks with potential. mgmt changed in a bad way on this album, and if they keep this up, they'll prove that they can't last.
fav tracks: alien days, cool song no.2
least fav tracks: i love you too, death, astro-mancy

The Weeknd - Trilogy
90

just pure, soulful music from Abel Tesfaye. i can't say anything bad about this

Klaxons - Surfing the Void
83

doesn't get enough recognition as it deserves. awesome album
fav tracks: echoes, twin flames

Iggy Azalea - The New Classic
32

this album was built up on the hype of fancy and work, two songs which i actually enjoyed. the rest is horrific garbage that shouldn't hit anyone's ears.

St. Vincent - St. Vincent
68

i know that this is good music, it's just not for me. the hooks are nice, along with the guitar riffs and synth beats. it might grow on me, but i don't think that st. vincent is as strong as some other pop artists out there.

Charli xcx - SUCKER
78

EDIT: yeah, so i thought that this was an awesome album a few months ago, but its basic pop, still good, but basic.
original review:
this was a surprise to me. i first heard boom clap when the trailers for "the fault in our stars" came out, and i thought it was a catchy song, but was unsure how long it would last. charli xcx proved herself with this very strong album full of radio ready pop anthems. i love the different feels of each track, and just charli's expression put into the ... read more

Lorde - Pure Heroine
89

[rating the 16 track deluxe version]
strong debut from a promising artist. lorde really shows herself in these songs. the tracks go into each other nicely, with the production overall being incredible. the aesthetic of this LP is what really pulled me in, with some interesting titles and lyrics, lorde shows that she has the potential to become one of the next greatest pop stars.
fav tracks: bravado, 400 lux, ribs, a world alone
least fav tracks: biting down

Fall Out Boy - American Beauty / American Psycho
61

just too mainstream. fall out boy really went away from what they had before and just sound the same.
fav track: the kids aren't alright

Foster the People - Supermodel
86

yes, this is different than ftp's debut, however it is better. it lacks poppy radio hits, but has deeper and slower songs that give Supermodel the character that Torches didn't have. i wasn't expecting the A$AP Rocky sample, but it really added to beginner's guide. overall, this may be labeled as a sophomore slump, but this LP has some really different and excellent music.
fav tracks: pseudologia fantastica, the truth, a beginner's guide to destroying the moon
least fav tracks: fire ... read more

Foster the People - Torches
74

i used to think this was such an amazing album. however, i listened to it a few more times a few months later, and couldnt get back into it. now i still think this is great, just forgettable. the songs start to sound very repetitive, however the lyrics have some really positive messages put into rather mediocre lyrics. will not stand the test of time.
fav tracks: helena beat, warrant, i would do anything for you
least fav tracks: pumped up kicks, don't stop (color on the walls)

U2 - Songs of Innocence
55

rolling stone couldn't have heard the same thing i did
fav track: the miracle (of Joey Ramone)

A$AP Rocky - LONG.LIVE.A$AP
84

overall strong first LP. no, Rocky isn't the most lyrical rapper, but he does have great production behind his vocals and includes some great features. gets weak in the last 3 songs but the first 5 are great.
fav tracks: LVL, hell, 1train, long live a$AP
least fav tracks: pain, phoenix, suddenly

LMFAO - Sorry for Party Rocking
30

only had one decent song, party rock anthem. what really creeps me out is that this is an uncle-nephew group. makes it awkward to listen to.

JAY-Z - Magna Carta... Holy Grail
56

straight up decent album. didn't live up to the enormous hype built around it. i cannot pay attention enough to get through the whole thing in one listen.
fav tracks: holy grail, tom ford, picasso baby, la familia

HAIM - Days Are Gone
82

HAIM has a strong debut album, with plenty of poppy hooks and upbeat lyrics, the sisters live up to the hype behind this LP and deliver an album of radio worthy music. the tracks start to sound the same after a while, however the tides do turn when you get to My Song 5, which is a tougher alt-industrial beat. overall, very much what i had expected, but very good.
fav tracks: falling, forever, my song 5
least fav tracks: the wire, running if you call my name.
overrated: the wire
underrated: ... read more

White Lies - Big TV
70

the first half of this LP holds some of my favorite tracks. White Lies doesn't do their best to get the story told clearly, however this album tells the story of a girl finding her way through the city, with the lyrics in her point of view. the instrumental space I and II tracks are placed in appropriate places, keeping the flow of this LP.
fav tracks: there goes our love again, first time caller, heaven wait
least fav tracks: change, tricky to love

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis - The Heist
66

macklemore is known for some of his most lackluster songs. thrift shop, can't hold us, and wing$ are good, but do not match up for some of the other tracks. those that tell of his troubles with substance abuse, neon cathedral and starting over, have a deep message. bombom was an unnecessary interlude, and much too long at that. macklemore could've had a stronger album by having some more memorable beats (@ryan lewis) and rawer lyrics in non-abuse songs.
fav tracks: jimmy iovine, cowboy ... read more

Riff Raff - Neon Icon
65

the best meme rap album. riff raff won't be able to top this, nor will any other meme rapper. he has some really funny and creative lyrics and flows along with a few features that weren't half bad. of course neon icon is not serious music, however it's fun. just look at the cover. this man has purple braids, a fist full of gold, and is holding a baby and a husky. what more could you ask for?

fav tracks: introducing the icon, lava glaciers, wetter than tsunami

Imagine Dragons - Smoke + Mirrors
35

i like gold and shots. thats it
