this gave me an entirely new perspective on indie music and music as a whole. every song is unique and has a special feel to it that gave me goosebumps. the different instruments helped differentiate the sound, and the soft spoken lyrics reminded me of a sufjan stevens kind of vibe. the first 3 songs were an incredible start, and as most of them were slow, it was worth the wait to hear that masterpiece that is Beth / Rest.
fav tracks: beth/rest, perth, holocene
i enjoyed it even though i couldn't understand most of it! if you have 30 minutes of free time please give it a listen
i actually really like this guy and what he makes, but compared to other rappers and rap groups, it's just not as good. its a nice change compared to other rap music, and if yung lean keeps doing what he's doing, he'll have a great album eventually
fav tracks: ghosttown, blinded, ice cold smoke
its not good but i like it, a lot. props to the Swedish guy rapping in rather well spoken english
wow. i wasn't expecting the new ep from twigs to come out for a couple more months (i haven't been following the release date much) so this came out of nowhere for me. easily my favorite of her 3 eps, significantly better than both. it's as if twigs took the best moments of LP1 (closer, two weeks, pendulum, video girl) and made them even more spacey and electronically oriented. this proves that fka twigs was far from done with new and adventurous songs, and has much more coming.

EDIT: i find myself only going back to certain tracks on this album, and i havent gone through the LP as a whole since first listen.
i really really enjoyed this album, it was nicely produced, and M.I.A.'s voice never gets old to me. love the different cultural sounds that are present in all tracks, also love the various messages sent throughout the LP.
fav tracks: warriors, aTENTion, exodus, know it ain't right
i think i like this more than any of rocky's other albums. awesome debut, had some strong bangers. the production was superb, rocky had his usual lyrical content (women, drugs, etc), and the features were nicely placed. i can't complain about this, i really enjoyed listening to it through all 16 tracks
fav tracks: palace, purple swag chapter 2, out of this world
least fav tracks: kissin pink
i mean... it's not a real album from death grips. this was just a hint at when Jenny Death would be dropping, fashion week. these are some nice instrumentals, and i like it. i just prefer death grips with mc ride rapping.
fav tracks: runway e (the first one), runway j
OHMYGOD ITS SO FORMULAIC I LITERALLY CAN'T LISTEN TO THIS NONSTOP OR I WILL THROW UP. the beats are extremely similar, the "rapping" is a bad mix with the weird wannabe alternative beats. I used to think this was a good band, but they have nothing special about them. WOW YOU'RE RAPPING ABOUT DEPRESSION OVER AN ELECTRONIC BEAT??? EDGY!!! NONONONO!! a few of these songs i enjoyed, but they were all so similar and generic. the christian undertones were also a bit too much to take. ... read more
EDIT: definitely my least favorite kanye album, but its still great. it gets old really quick however.
Not comparable to Kanye's more recent releases (MBDTF, Yeezus) however this is a stepping stone to his newer sound. There is hit after hit on this album, and although people might not immediately think of Graduation when they think of Kanye West, this LP will last as one of his best.
fav tracks: stronger, i wonder, good life, good morning, can't tell me nothing, flashing lights

Much stronger lyrically than Flacko's last project. The beats may not be as exciting, but this isn't all about girls and drugs. this is less bragging and more "storytelling" in a way. i felt that Ye was out of place on this album, as his verse wasn't strong at all compared to the other features. not all tracks were great, and some were even hard to listen to (see L$D) but this was far from a sophomore slump. I like the direction A$AP Rocky is heading, and am excited to see where ... read more
EDIT: haha nope
redefined the punk scene with one of the most well known and well received rock operas ever. not their best, but still incredible.
fav tracks: american idiot, holiday, extraordinary girl, letterbomb
i loved this. pop for people who aren't into mainstream pop
fav tracks: lifted up(1985), five foot ten(I), until we can't(let's go)
EDIT: Not as good as i once thought but hey i still like it
woah. that's how i can put this LP in one word. this was a refreshing shift from oracular spectacular, which was full of synth beats and repetitive hooks, the duo has a more classic feel, more guitars and drums while using their synthesizers as well. the lyrics and hooks were on point and had a great song-to-song flow.
fav tracks: it's working, flash delirium, bryan eno
least fav track: someone's missing
