A really cool lil ep from the one and only Ben from Canada, and a welcome return to his beautiful, emotional but fun electronic music. Also the cover is dope.
A really beautiful, clearly personal chill house album. The ethereal soundscapes, stunning harmonies and soft vocals carry the record and the production is obviously amazing. However, I just adored the more vapour twitch/future bass of the previous albums. Just doesn't sound like the Kasbo I know and love, and just isn't as good.
Edit: 77 --> 85. It's just so beautiful I can't not rate it higher.
Still so unbelievably upset that this could have been representing Germany at Eurovision.
A decently produced pop/rnb song that is very generic and boring and has nothing special about it whatsoever. I guess her voice is nice.
Edit: I've only rated and reviewed this because I want to for all the albums/EPs/songs I get from the random function on this website.
Thought I'd revisit this after Kid Of Darkness cause why not. I love most of the instrumentation here, as I still am a sucker for some groovy, disgustingly heavy deathhore. The vocals are brutal and kinda fun, but lots of the songs seem to merge together a lot to where I really overall get nothing from this. Standouts are Demolisher, Baba Yaga and Agony though.
Incredibly immersive, weirdly nostalgic and frankly amazing mix of upbeat, jolly tunes and stunning, somber guitar songs that tempt me even further into actually just getting this game and listening to the entire 3 hr main soundtrack.
So... this is my favourite song? Yeah, yeah it is. Wow what a masterpiece.
An extremely lovely, dreamy, moody shoegaze album that has multiple standouts as well as some earlier tracks that seem to blend together. Very pleasant to listen to but not hugely re-listenable. What it does is great though.
This is my first jazz album listen ever and, I mean, what a fucking way to properly introduce the genre to me. I'd listened to occasional snippets and tracks from the legends like Miles Davis and Charles Mingus but never anything more modern than them and certainly nothing like this. This album blew me away like I really understand why it's the highest rated album of the year (atm). The denseness to the layers of each song is sublime and just such ear candy. My uncle is a sax player in some ... read more
As someone who listens to barely any pop music beside Eurovision, I was nervous actually trying to give this a listen. I knew it was very hyped, had seen all the praise and the genre tags peaked my interest. If this was gonna be genuinely interesting, risky, experimental music from a huge star then I was gonna give it a go. And, to be fair... it almost worked. Almost. The production on this, thanks once again to Finneas, is just perfect, and the out-of-the-generic-pop-music-cliches-box ideas ... read more
After having to wait a little more than wanted (just a little), I was really looking forward to listening to this album and it honestly smashed my expectations. I was worried that it would cater too much to normal people and not be as heavy or interesting as I'd like but not only was it both the heaviest BMTH album since Suicide Season (probably) and incredibly creative, but also, the modern, pop influences really worked for me. This might be one of catchiest albums I've heard in a while and I ... read more
A crazy, chaotic and bizarre album that reminds me of Melted Bodies with its eccentric-sounding vocalist, goofy sound and genre mixes, but with less guitar and less metal influences. Still an entertaining album but not as good as I expected from its genre tags and reviews.
A short burst of utter devastation that is crushingly heavy, intensely groovy and somehow catchy. It also avoids the only potential criticism I would have had, that the songs sounded too similar, with definite variation throughout. I guess they do sound a little similar but the sound that is similar is so good that I don’t care one bit. Definitely deserves all the hype it’s got and I reckon will become a classic.
A very jazzy, unique and weirdly cozy album from WILLOW. Bucket loads of groove, charisma and cool ideas. I feel like lots of this is what Jacob Collier thinks he is making.
A lot heavier than any Starset I’ve listened to, which is cool. The chorus is underwhelming though and the bridge was very shit. I did actually kinda enjoy the breakdown with electronic elements.
Simply put, this album is enjoyable, and for a debut album by a young singer-songwriter, that is a huge compliment! Although a first full-length release, there is decent cohesion throughout and lots of interesting and promising ideas are present.
Ok, now for thoughts on each song.
'Chocolate strawberries' is a cute lil song with potentially relatable lyrics but I wouldn't know because I'm lonely. I guess its similar to songs I've heard before but that doesn't really matter because it ... read more
