while logan's rapping & songwriting ability was still at a relative peak here, the apocalyptic concept rings a little shallow and gimmicky and doesn't feel fleshed out enough to be particularly noteworthy.
every time I listen to this I'm convinced it's the greatest album of all time.
this record sounds like it was made in a dark abyss. exo is always so good at matching their cover art to the colors of the record. it's definitely one of their weaker outputs as of late, but it's still a pretty strong record; the back half especially so. it can be a little barebones at times and that both adds and detracts from it depending on the moment, and the sound is quite unpolished but I think holds a lot of potential for them if they continue to explore it.
pretty cool little two pack. weirdo direction is awesome, hoping to see this sound fleshed out fully on the upcoming project
really solid mixtape. quite a few standouts, tons of energy and charisma from doechii as well as the variety she showcases on this really gives a strong case for her rising star power in the coming years. love to see a fellow swamp dweller shine :)
might be better than Thriller. jam packed with iconic masterpieces. an absolutely ridiculously good run.
undeniable classic. comprised of some of the best pop songs ever recorded. the king for a reason.
this was my first Halsey album, which I checked out in pure curiosity based on the impersonation marketing photoshoots and the "way too interesting for a generic pop record" album cover, plus whispers about what the album was about. going into this blind was a shock and a half. right from the start I was blindsided by just how personal and soul baring this record would be. it's a heavy record. while still pretty pop angled, a lot of the sound of this record is intimate, and ... read more
despite FYS being comprised of three talented artists, i'm still kinda shocked at just how good this turned out. distorted noise with incredible raw production that feels exactly how FYS should feel. it's a special kind of clusterfuck that is chaotic and messy as hell, with samples and soundbites thrown around all over the place on production from grace that crosses the weirdo threshold and drags you through with it into the FYS dimension. the trio ride across the landscape of ... read more
tyler strips away much of the theatricality he's known for and bares himself in an honest way he's not done before. this is easily his most vulnerable effort since flower boy, if not more so. what's most interesting to me is the amount of storytelling throughout this record; tyler spends at least a third of his time on here laying down a bunch of different perspectives. while tyler is being more introspective on here, he's also turning that mirror around and looking outward ... read more
so that's what that feels like...
this tape is strikingly honest. grace puts it all on the track on this one, probably even more so than her previous record, and it shows. there's a lot here that hits really close to home for me, funny enough. painful, twisted reflections of self hatred, imposter syndrome, inadequacy and artistic jealousy among a couple others. i've spent a while trying to process how gross it feels to see yourself become the cause of something you yourself go ... read more
best album with Kole Xidas and nishith to date.
fantastic production, great vocals; quality album. caelix???? CAELIX?!?!?!??
first thought when i saw this was "why wasn't this called the second time" but i know someone's probably already said that in here
jojo siwa fails to realize almost the exact same thing that eminem has on his newest record; the boundaries have been pushed further than this already, and general audiences aren't going to be shocked by your attempts to be "adult" or "sexy." it sounds dated, it feels try-hard and it's not working. it's more embarrassing than it is controversial or shocking.
eminem fails to realize that the boundaries have already been pushed so far beyond him. nearly fifteen years ago, tyler was going farther than eminem ever has, and no repetitive bars about gen z, pronouns, trans people, chris reeves or random slur drops will ever be as controversial as he hopes to be. while he might be in on the joke that he's an old man yelling at clouds, he's flanderized the character of slim shady and doesn't really know what to do with himself artistically; ... read more
