while the more lowkey approach works better here, doja just isn’t compelling enough on here to really shine.
this album is really annoying. tons of great fun songs from kendrick, but he’s just so mad on this record and his rage is so ambiguous it’s really frustrating. why won’t he just elaborate? and then there’s songs like reincarnated and man at the garden which just feel weirdly off putting and gross in a way i can’t quite put my finger on. the only thing saving this record from a much lower score is kendrick’s pure talent. where the fuck is the new snippet man
maybe twigs just isn’t for me. i remember liking this more back in ‘22 when it released, and it is good, but beyond the pretty sound selection there’s not much for me to grab onto.
just isn’t clicking for me. i like a lot of the ideas on here, and there’s something i really like or even love on almost every track, but it’s a small section surrounded by a larger mediocrity. idk, man. think one or two of the songs could be growers but overall i’m not super impressed.
almost deducted a whole point for north west being featured on here. was this a birthday gift for her? why is it the same verse as that vultures 2 song? what was the point man
i get it...
yeah time to celebrate Marin, Nurture finally clicked for me :)
hopeful melancholy. gorgeous production, all around beautiful. Porter really knew what he was doing on this one. was not expecting to be hit so hard by the (many more than i remembered there being) instrumental tracks that very expertly build up this atmosphere. Porter lives in this wonderful painful teardrop of nostalgia, the cold icy blue holding within it the reflection of emerald pastures lit by the golden sunset. ... read more
mac really is the greatest, man. untouchable. love this record so damn much. the new songs i hadn't heard before are brilliant. i miss he finally sleeps (and to a lesser extent, bob's dementia), but wow shangri-la & especially rick's piano are incredible. tracklist shuffling feels natural. even with the little changes to the songs i know by heart front to back, i am, for once, pretty much free of demo-itis. probably his best tape. one of the best ever, frankly. mac's the ... read more
while a bit all over the place, poppy sorta returns on this record to what she's best at: textured and entertainingly structured mixes of bubblegum pop and metal.
pretty solid tape. love the production. resonated a lot with it. good shit.
second best project titled "iced out"
few really cool songs on here. most of it wasn't my thing though.
intimate; sweet and cozy. a lot less fantastical than her previous record, and while I do think it loses some character for it, the more stripped down atmosphere does add its own more personal touch to the record.
really wanted to love this; the cover is one of my favorites i've ever seen. might click with me one day, but it's a bit too much for me atm
one of the greatest to ever do it, man. immaculate energy, great bars, fantastic production, overflowing with charisma. he really was untouchable.
