Higher highs than The Low End Theory, but not quite better as an overall project. Still unbelievable though
Is this what those people who say Imaginal disk is just ‘good’ think it sounds like?
Lots of cool ideas on here, foreshadowing what was to come from them in the future. Just found some of the tracks in the middle of the album to feel a little repetitive.
Daft Punk have never faltered in their entire career.
It’s been a while since a listened to this album, and previously I had been in agreement that it was Daft Punk’s only slight mistake. However, since my last listen, I have absolutely fallen in love with Alive 2007, and the Human After All songs are not just featured in that live album, they are absolute key parts of it, opening and closing the show (ignoring the encore). This one’s a hard one to rate, because pretty much every song is clearly very planned out and well put together, and hearing them in isolation I would like more. I just find this style of music can get super dry and repetitive on a full length project. That being said though I can’t deny the quality on here, some unbelievable individual songs. Some cool ideas but too much mid (and some straight up bad) to give it any higher...
but I will never complain about new kdot !!!
Some of the earlier songs are less interesting, but the best version of long season more than makes up for that.
This is the perfect example of a collection of songs being made so much better when packaged into one album. Everything is so short and snappy that even when not instantly grabbing your attention, it retrospectively makes the next song you hear better. An album like this doesn’t work when you try to analyse each song individually and rate it (like I have tried to), because it’s really more like one massive piece of cohesive art. Almost one individual song. Truly special.
