Slayyyter - WOR$T GIRL IN AMERICA
90

Was torn on an 8.5 to 9 for a long time but the highs make me slide this a 9 and potentially my aoty so far (vince album looks like it has potential to beat it though according to my friend).

This is essentially the electro pop dance album this year and holy it's executed so well. First half is just banger after banger. DANCE... is top 2 intro song of the year, crank slaps way too hard, and old technology's industrial feel adds so much to the song and easily makes it my favourite ... read more

Pink Floyd - The Dark Side of the Moon
95

Relistened to this earlier and yeah it's still an amazing and iconic album.

Dark Side is Floyd's 6th studio album and has generally been one of the most highly acclaimed albums in rock history up there with albums like ok computer and abbey road. It also has one of the most iconic album covers of all time with the prism on a black background refracting light that has essentially trascended pink floyd themselves in terms of recognizability.

When looking at the tracklist, it's ... read more

Thundercat - Distracted
70

Amazing start with some of the best features of the year and ofc thundercat's amazing bass.

She knows too much goes so hard and glad to see mac miller being treated with the respect he deserves, funny friends is a banger, and I love the vocals on what is left to say. Middle is also solid with tracks like I wish I didn't waste your time and this thing we call love.

Unfortunately the album takes a huge steer near the end with more stale production and the tracks blending together ... read more

Radiohead - Amnesiac
70

Happy 25th anniversary to this album!

Yeah I mean it's definitely not a masterpiece or anything, but what it's worth amnesiac is still a good listen for essentially building on the atmosphere that kid a had even if as an album the song quality tends to fluctuate a lot since it's pretty much a b side album.

I might be wrong and knives out are definitely my favourites with that guitar absolutely carrying both songs, pyramid song is a great piano ballad that sets up for songs like ... read more

Kanye West - Late Registration
100

Gone and We Major alone make this a top 2 Kanye album. Not to mention tracks like Roses or Diamonds from Sierra Lione.

Late Registration is Kanye's 2nd album after his legendary debut in The College Dropout, and even if I think it's a little bit worse than that album + lacks that special connection I have to that album, Late Registration is essentially near equal in quality with a lot of the tracks being Kanye's best work.

While I'm not as big on some songs as others, I ... read more

Limp Bizkit - Results May Vary
15

A friend really wanted me to listen to this even knowing I would have a good chance of hating it. Yeah I hated it.

This is what happens when you don't have the band member that has carried for every other album I listened to. Without the main guitarist, the entirety of limp bizkit falls apart since his riffs add in a lot of fun to what would be annoying or boring songs. Three Dollar Bill in particular is unironically an album I enjoy and think is overall fun, but this album was definitely ... read more

Tyler, The Creator - IGOR
100

Maybe it's just my feed, but recently especially on youtube and reddit I've been seeing people call igor extremely overrated so I decided to relisten to it since it has been a few months since I last heard any of the songs and after a relisten... this is still a perfect album experience and easily Tyler's best work + crop of songs. I can get people who prefer other albums from Tyler, but at the very least you have to admit this is his magnum opus and his most unique album that ... read more

Kendrick Lamar - DAMN.
80

DAMN. is far from Kendrick's best album, but is still easily a great project and worth a listen.

Despite some duds like YAH. and especially GOD. which is one of Kendrick's worst songs, the concept of the album allows it to be Kendrick's most digestable album and the highlights are some of Kendrick's best songs. The album is about two paths Kendrick can take in life, one showcased in this album where with a father figure, despite starting as a cocky and sinful rapper, slowly ... read more

Michael Jackson - Off the Wall
95

I don't think Michael Jackson needs any introduction lmao.

While I still personally prefer Thriller, Off the Wall is definitely not far behind at all and I can easily understand why this is considered Michael Jackson's best overall work. While not quite as single heavy, Off the Wall is a disco dance album that both sets up for albums like Thriller and Bad whilst also being able to stand on its own in MJ's discography.

This album has classic MJ songs like don't stop til you ... read more

J. Cole - 2014 Forest Hills Drive
80

This is the first J. Cole album I listened to and I've listened to it multiple times since. Songs grew on me, songs grew off me, but in the end it has always been a solid 8/10 album to me.

I think it's far from Cole's best work and overrated specifically in the Cole community. I think albums like 4 your eyez only and the fall off surpass 2014 in many ways, but I can definitely see how this can be someone's personal favourite Cole album and I won't deny it is certainly ... read more

Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
100

This is my favourite album of all time and it's going to take a long while for it to be topped. Is it a basic take? Yeah. Do I care? Nah. My first experience listening to this album and subsequent relistens have been ethereal to say the very least.

After making what is one of the most recognizable and iconic albums in history in Dark Side of the Moon, Pink Floyd would go on to somehow surpass that masterpiece by making a 9 part long juggernaut of a song as a tribute to their once bandmate ... read more

Isaiah Rashad - The House Is Burning
60

Yeah this is EASILY the weakest zay project I've listened to.

Despite a couple of highlights that shows that isaiah has still got it, a lot of the album is filled with a lot of eh songs, features that are hit or miss, and production that I just do not think fits Isaiah's style very well. Particularly tracks like lay wit ya, hey mista, and 9-3 freestyle which are easily some of isaiah's worst material (but if those songs are your worst material then you're honestly a damn ... read more

Isaiah Rashad - Cilvia Demo
100

A friend really wanted me to listen to this EP so I took a listen today and holy shit I generally loved Rashad's music before this but this is on another level.

The chill cloud and jazz rap production fits his style perfectly and his lyricism is on point as expected. Combined with the themes of this album, it leads to what is in my opinion Rashad's best project. (I need to relisten to the sun's tirade though.)

Shot you down feels like bros in top dawg hanging with each other ... read more

Kenny Mason - BULLDAWG
85

Definitely one of my favourite listens this year.

I love the rock inspired production on tracks like be what I want, street car, and come true. Bullkiller is the intro song of the year and whatuwannasay? has a fantastic Kenny Mason performance.

I think break time is a little too goofy and out of place, and test me is not really all of that with a pretty mediocre beat and kenny mason performance.

personal fav: be what I want
other favs: bullkiller, whatuwannasay?, citgo, junkyard freestyle, ... read more

J. Cole - The Fall-Off
85

While it's not my favourite J. Cole album, it's still some of his best work and one of my favourite albums of the year. Despite having 24 songs and being over 100 minutes in length, a huge chunk of this album is great with some fantastic tracks in there. Disc39 which only happened due to the beef in particular I think would compete fully with 4yeo as his best album if it were released separately from disc29 which is the weaker of the two.

39 intro is currently my song of the year ... read more

A$AP Rocky - Don't Be Dumb
70

8 year wait but I'm not gonna factor that into my review for this album.

Rocky is one of my personal favourite rappers with live love a$ap being my fav rap mixtape of all time. That being said while this album is really good, I do think there's flaws that hold it back.

After stay here 4 life, the tracklist takes a huge hit in quality before coming back up again with punk rocky. It's not that the tracks are bad apart from stop snitching and STFU, but combined with the hit or ... read more

Drake - HABIBTI
5

Rusty intro is too funny for me to give this album a 0.
Outside of that though, I was genuinely bored out of my mind. Why did drake think it was a good idea to release 3 albums in one night instead of just focusing on making iceman an actually solid album?

Drake - MAID OF HONOUR
0

Honestly nevermind was my least favourite drake album before this.
Imagine honestly nevermind except instead of having like 2 songs I could vibe with, there's 0.
At least road trips was passable I guess.

Drake - ICEMAN
45

There is actually a solid drake album in here. Songs like make them cry, whisper my name, and national treasures prove that drake can make great songs. It's just that drake pulls a drake and overbloats the tracklist MASSIVELY to a point where it starts hurting the overall quality of the album going from a solid project to one that misses the mark in my opinion.

Also I think we all want drake to move on from the beef at this point. I am as tired of the beef discourse as a lot of people are ... read more

JPEGMAFIA - EXPERIMENTAL RAP
60

Haven't been on the site for a while and was too lazy to log back on.

Anyways as someone who is a big fan of jpegmafia's music, especially OFFLINE! and scaring the hoes, I genuinely wasn't too impressed with this album and think it's easily his worst work since veteran. While I wouldn't go as far as calling this album bad like some others, I can get why people would think so.

The main problem with the album is definitely jpegmafia himself. While I mainly go to ... read more
