timeless, unique and ahead of her time. insane to think this was released in 2005
an album that was good for its time, but in 2024, half of the songs have aged not so well... it's a hit or miss situation.
however, it''a worthy of listening to the whole album in tracklist order; billie's music is intended to be listened to like it's a story or concept, not a music playlist made for commercial radio. so if you want to play a song on its own without the context of the others preceding it (especially on this album), then it won't hit as hard as it needs to.
it's just as good as art angels but the only thing is that it becomes a bit obvious that she's on the verge of losing all her creativity from this point — after this album, everything seems to go downhill.
my name is dark & 4ÆM are the highlights of the album for me, but delete forever is easily something everyone can enjoy.
another classic from grimes! (and probably her last)
it's good on the first listen. after that, there's zero replay value. bloodpop needs to be fired.
for a 2011 album, the prodoction is REVOLUTIONARY. there are certain tracks that have the ability to send a victorian child into a coma
it's her most complex album with some compelling messages but the music just never really sticks for me. there's like 3 songs that i'd willingly go back to
very underrated but some tracks feel like filler. anything is better than her debut at least.
an outstanding body of work and a masterpiece within pop music. despite having one skip (easily), this album still manages to take the average listener by surprise as every track has its own unique message and meaning.
btw, kill v. maim, flesh without blood & the title track were kept on loop for hours before i could even finish the album; all 10/10s
