I did Muse so dirty when I listened to Origin of Symmetry in January and gave it a 7, that album has grown on me like cancer. A more heavy hitting and spacey Radiohead is an itch that these guys managed to scratch, there's no exception with Absolution. It's a pretty good album that I'm sure has a concept with the interludes and whatever but I don't care the cover looks cool. Just a very hype time, Matt Bellamy doesn't get on my nerves with this one and it's got ... read more
Very soothing album I played at a very wrong time and it still felt great.
I'm in a very Beatles sort of mood recently, it's an itch I must scratch out by all costs. It surprises me I've never fully heard this album until right now, seeming as I know most of the songs by heart in here. It's such a banger record man, it's actually very good. People bitch about the mixing and lack of substance and whatever, all valid of course, but that doesn't take away that this is one of the best albums of that era, I could eat up that guitar tone for ... read more
The true "underrated" Beatles album, point this record to anyone who says Revolver is their "hidden gem". Of course none of these terms really apply here because we're talking about the fucking Beatles. Anyway this one is very trippy, even more so than Sgt. Pepper's, it's very clear most of the songs were written under the influence. I love it, all the songs are so good. It's slightly worse than its predecessor but it doesn't matter much to me. After ... read more
I get the appeal and I can understand why it is rated as high as it is, it's just not for me. Everything sounds alright, the track is split between 4 sections, my favorite being that piano loop, it sounds haunting. I can appreciate good lyrics, and I'm very sure this one has very intimate and close-to-heart ones, but I only tend to notice them when the instrumental interests me. Here it's all good, though not something I'd listen on the daily. I like the pink cover, ... read more
I put this on while I was doing homework, I'm not sure if it worked very well as Bach doesn't have the most soothing compositions out there but it did something. I'm not very sure how to rate classical music, mainly because it blends in the background for me most of the time, but there's no doubt all these variations are pretty good. I think that's what I appreciate: the fact that Glenn Gould dedicated his whole career to Bach's work strikes me as commitment to the ... read more
I brushed Madonna aside as being a one hit wonder for many years, putting her in the same zone as artists like Cyndi Lauper or Kylie Minogue, I haven't heard much from them so I might be wrong about that too. Mind you I had only heard her hits, stuff like Holiday or Like A Virgin which are pretty good songs but never necessarily interested me. A few weeks ago I was browsing the highest rated Downtempo albums after having listened to Bocanada (an album I will forever associate with this) ... read more
I get confused on the name of this thing, like I sometimes call it O Green World because of that Gorillaz song. This album is not ambient but it's close enough, still in its very early stages. I like how Eno mixes a lot of rock instrumentation and sort of creates this weird atmosphere, at times it can feel like an Earthbound boss fight. It took me a bit by surprise to hear him... singing? I thought Brian Eno was always a bald man whose vocal box was replaced with a piano! It's a great ... read more
I have to commend Stephen Merritt for being the straightest gay man to ever live. I think of Magnetic Fields, I think of gimmicks, like you got the 69 sex song album, their Distortion+Realism album run and 50 Song Memoir, an album I have to be mentally prepared to listen for 3 hours or so. It's a shame, it has a great start with songs like I Don't Believe You and I Looked All Over Town. but after that it just sort goes back to unsubstantial stuff. It's still a good one but a let ... read more
Fucking horrible day, thank god school ended early today I wanted to throw myself out the window by lunch. I got home and I put this one on because I have nothing better to do than to listen to some Brits copying Radiohead for 40 minutes. And I liked it, it's a good album. It's like taking The Bends. right. and just going for its more softer sound like in High and Dry and Nice Dream, which does work well. And usually they're able to sort of build a different vibe for it. I say ... read more
I'm guessing this is one of those albums that everyone has to hear once in their lifetime, mainly because it's plastered everywhere as one of if not the best Beatles record out there. While that's not true Sgt. Pepper's is a great album, following a concept about a different band only 4 songs follow, then they sort of forget about it. Automatically my favourite concept album. They lean into a lot of stuff, a lot of psychedelic, narrative, sunshine wacky tacky shit that most ... read more
i dig the progressive sound of this one, already better than anything off madlo. I wish they leaned a bit more into the noise, i think it sounds great. i guess im not that big of a fan of some of the segments, that last part is pretty good though. for now this sounds good.
With the whole ARG thing that these guys set up for The Scholars and thinking their Spotify bio is very funny I was curious what their most recent album sounded like, seeming as it's not their usual slacker rock thing. Wow, back when I used to not like CSH at all I think this album is the closest thing to how I thought they sounded like at the time. It's very grating, they try to bring out their inner LCD out but unlike them it's so boring and drawn out because most of the time ... read more
I can't imagine the hype this must've caused when it was announced. A lot of people seem to be disappointed or let down by this album, and I'm not sure why. It's more LCD Soundsystem, and while it's not This Is Happening levels of good it maintains a level of quality throughout that doesn't feel underwhelming in the slightest. They go back to their roots a bit, they bring out a lot of the sound from their debut and some songs from Sound of Silver, it doesn't ... read more
I first tried to listen to this album a few months back, I stopped after Fourth Of July because I didn't really find it that much interesting, it sounded good but not as good as people described it. I put it to the side until this morning, when I pressed play on the CD player. Now, I'm not sure if it has something to do with time, but it sort of clicked the moment Death With Dignity started. This has grown on me like a tumor, it is such a mesmerizing album. It feels so intimate, ... read more
After listening to their most famous albums I listened to this covers album to sort of see what Deftones could do with the songs. I only recognized one song, the one by The Smiths that went crazy popular on social media, and because of that I honestly have no complaints about any of them, they're all alright. Not mind blowing of course, safe from a few everything sort of sounds like "what if __ went nu-metal" or something along the lines, I'm guessing that's the appeal. ... read more
It's hard to pin down if this is supposed to be Deathconsciousness 2 or not, they're very similar albums in terms of production at least. I didn't go in expecting another Deathcon though, that's fucking stupid, but I did expect it to sound similar. Because of that I really liked this one, it's got a much more aggressive tone than its predecessor, only mellowing out in the last track. It's a good time to sit there and be overwhelmed with that beautiful noise these ... read more
Mixing Cocteau Twins' dream pop with Budd's ambient minimalism isn't something I expected to find out today, I had to listen to it. Just on my first listen I think it's very obvious in what songs both parties worked on, in a way it feels like they went home, did their projects separately and then hot glued it together. I could be completely wrong about that though. I enjoyed Budd's tracks better, they're so soothing.

I'm not sure who at Nike thought about asking James Murphy, someone who didn't look like he had ever touched a treadmill, to make a workout song for them. It turned out great though. The song which doesn't last 45:33 minutes goes through a lot of stages, I think it brings out the Daft Punk energy inside of the band. My favorite part is when the brass elements come in it sounds so smooth. I'm not very sure if you can workout to this unless you have the stamina of James ... read more
