Blu - Back Home Again

It’s ok, neither Bombay or Bu really do anything bad on here. They also don’t really grasp any usable straws here.

Thank you RobiBlueX for the recommendation!

Pretty nostalgic 2000s vibes on here, which males sense because it came out in 2007. The album is a bit too long, to the point where it grt really boring and repetitive near the end. The first half is really solid and I really liked the southern type of production on here. Cut the second half, and you’ve got an 85-90 score for this album from me.

Thank you pro-acesquad for the recommendation!

This album already pleasing my biases with Master Hand on the cover. Probably the most life found here, these beats are mid and I’ve heard so much better from other NeonMatt projects like Pink Shards. +10 for Master Hand because Smash Bros is my fav game oat and again, I’m biased.

Fav: jpegmafia
Worst: eas alert type beat

Blu - NoYork!

Oh my god, this is so ass! I appreciate Blu going for a more experimental sound, but it still sounds bad. “It’s not bad, it’s experimental. That’s why it sounds different 🤓”. I’m not one to say that it’s bad because it’s different. But saying it’s “experimental” in defense to all the ass tracks on here feels more like it’s an excuse more than something that adds to these songs. I expect an experimental rap album to be ... read more

Cut it to just the first half, and it would’ve been a 10. The only song at the second half I found great was Growing Pains.

I saw a comment on the full album vid saying that this was their favorite written album oat, and better than tpab and another amazing rap album that I forgot he commented. I thought it was pretty interesting, but I unfortunately thought that the album was just ok. Except for We Got It!, that song is a hidden gem.

Fav: We Got It!
Worst: Fo’ Figa Rings

Pretty mixed album, with a lot of ok, pretty good and Remember Me tracks. Seriously tho, Remember Me is a huge standout here, it makes everything else seem a lot worse than they are.

Fav: Remember Me
Worst: The Dance

Blu - Her Favorite Colo(u)r

Amnesia hard carries this project. Not saying it’s the only good track here, but a couple songs here just sound like a worst version than an earlier track.

Fav: Amnesia
Worst: Love

Blu - God Is Good

Blu & Cashus King never miss on here! Also, this mixtape contains some of Blu’s easily most underrated songs here.

Favs: A World Gone Blind, Crowns
Worst: The Run Out

Vince Staples - Cry Baby
89

His 3rd best album, and also his most expirimental. He goes for a genre fusion of rap and punk rock to very clearly get his message across.

Fav: Blackberry Marmalade
Worst: TV Guide

Vince Staples - Prima Donna

Just as consistent as his first EP, except with all the songs being better.

Fav: Prima Donna
Worst: Smile

Vince Staples - Hell Can Wait

Solid & Consistent, which doesn’t seem crazy cuz that’s most Vince projects, but this might have been his first time making a solid & consistent project.

Fav: Blue Suede

I decided to do something that I don’t do much with my ratings, and calculate the average as my rating. I might do this more, I might not, thought it would be cool to tho. Anyways, the only two tracks I’d really go back to are Doo Whop & the title track. Everything else is just ok.

Only skips for me are Aegis and Next Life. This was my first Navy Blue album, and it sure did deliver all right. Definitely coming back to this for Belladonna and F.E.A.R. alone.

Blu & Exile - Below the Heavens

Blu somehow went from mid albums to a 10/10 as soon as he started working with Exile. Lots of Nas influence sprinkled throughout the project, which I really dig. Blu shows off his lyrical abilities through rapping about hopes for a better life and what his future might have in store for him, while also touching on subjects like the afterlife and his legacy. Exile perfectly compliments this with a soulful jazzy sampled production that really pushes these songs to a whole new level. Overall, ... read more

Blu And Sene - A Day Late & A Dollar Short

Blu does his part well with the production, but Sene was only good for like a quarter of the tracks. He doesn’t ruin them, but they definitely could’ve been better.

I do like a lot of the tracks here, but nothing feels original. The themes that these songs go through are equivalent to the Toy Story 2 Buzz Lightyear Meme. They aren’t bad, but just lack a lot of character.

It’s basically a better version of G.O.Ds NETWORK.
