Gave this bad boy a listen 10 years after it was relevant. I'd say it holds up.

This album genuinely feels like you pulled 4 musicians who had gone to hell, gave them a few months on earth to write an album, then cast them back to hell once they were done. This is probably the results.
I mean, there's clear swans influence on this album. But while swans is more meditative and introspective, in comparison this album is just pure AGONY, in a good way!
