21st Century Schizoid Man is one of the best album openers of all time. I have it second only to SYcD I-V. It doesn't stop there though, as just like WYWH, it has one of the best album closers of all time. Also, my god, the drumming is amazing on this album. I'm not a drummer, but I've been watching a lot of Drumeo, so I've really grown to appreciate drumming. I also think this makes me enjoy Moonchild more than most, but it is kinda weird that it's on the album. I ... read more
Okay... This was peak. I didn't expect them to surpass Foxtrot, but they somehow did. Firth of Fifth, Moonlight Knight, and Cinema Show are all masterpieces. I'll definitely have to update this review with more detailed thoughts at some point.
This is a very decent album. This album is basically a time capsule of the 80s. Sex is the name of the game, but the title track and the opening track are both great. If you don't know AC/DC or are half paying attention, most of these songs sound the same, which is my biggest complaint with AC/DC music in general.
This is one of the most mid albums of all time. For a 1:20 long record, it feels a hell of a lot longer than that. Atlas Rise, Hardwired, Moth into Flame, and Spit Out the Bone are pretty solid though. This definitely feels like "dad rock", but I think my dad likes this album less than me.
Nah fuck y'all. This shit slaps. This is kinda the album that marked the end of Metallica's golden age, but damn did they go out big. My dad used to play this all the time, so I have a lot of nostalgia for this album. This is one of those "perfectly produced" albums for me. It sounds really fucking good. I will say that this album somewhat tapers off towards the end though.
One is a top 10 song of all time for me. This album is amazing, but I find it slightly forgettable. The production is kinda mixed, but this is still really fucking good metal music. One does unfortunately overshadow most of the album for me.
How the fuck did I miss reviewing this album? This is truley peak. This is one of my most listened to albums of all time. Besides One on JFA, this might be the band's best song writing. This is a very angry album, but not so angry it has a stroke like St. Anger. I think I might listen to this again after writing this review.
Edit: 80 -> 83. I underrated Home by the Sea (1+2). The combo song is probably my favorite on the album. I forgot how good this combo song is.
What the fuck is Illegal Alien doing here? This album is great... besides that dumbass song. Mama is a great opener, and one of my favorite Genesis songs. That's all was another one of my introductory Genesis songs so I'll always like it. I only slightly prefer Invisible Touch to their self-titled.
I've always had a fondness of this album. It's a very easy listen, with no true stinkers, but only a couple standouts. Land of Confusion is top tier though, and it was my introduction to the band like 6 years ago. If I just wanna listen to some easy pop-rock, I'll likely play this album.
Holy fuck I did not expect that. I'm a big fan of and have listened to a lot of the Phil Collins era stuff, but this is on a whole 'nother level. This some Pink Floyd type-shit. Get 'Em Out By Friday and Supper's Ready are now two of my favorite songs of all time. God damn this album slaps.
This album gets a lot of shit, and I see why, as I didn't like this album much the first listen, but damn did it grow on me. It's an extremely listenable album, and it feels like a sudo best-hits album. Sure it's derivative, but it has some absolute bangers. High Hopes, Marooned, Keep Talking, and Cluster One are great. I go back to this album a lot.
Edit: Seamus has grown on me a lot. I can't imagine this album without Seamus.
Now, this is what you call music.... assuming you skip Seamus because, WOW, it really does not belong on this album. Everything else on the album is top-tier though.
Wow this album is disappointing. It has some great songs like Learning to Fly and On the Turning Away, but the interludes cause this album to drag. Also, fuck y'all, Dogs of War is a massive guilty pleasure song and my favorite song on the album.
Top tier game, fucking amazing soundtrack. I used to play this unironically all the time, and if I'm not listening to Floyd or MUSE, I'm probably listening to this.
Holy shit. This is truely peak music. I'm at a loss for words. Somehow this was better than Wish you Were Here, which I thought would never be beaten.
This is one of few MUSE songs I can't defend. I really don't like this cover much at all, mainly the fact that a chunk of the song is cut out for some reason.
Do people really not like this? Huh??? This is one of my favorite MUSE songs.
I remember hearing this for the first time doing a review for the history and culture of rock music class I was in 2 years ago, and this album is some top-tier Soul music. I'll probably do a true review in the future, but this is an amazing album.
Deep Dive: AJR - Living Room
Oh boy, this album... I wasn't looking forward to this album at all. All I've heard are bad things, but it did surprise me in how shit it isn't... I wouldn't say it's good, but not god-awful trash. This is potentially the most mid album I've ever listened to. The highs aren't super high, but the lows are super low, leading to an album that has a super shotty listening experience. To its benefit, the songs aren't very long, ... read more
