The game is one of the best games I've ever played and it's paired with an incredible tracklist too
There's something about SLIFT that piques my interest in a way that no other metal band is capable of. ILION is a slow-moving beast that accomplishes so much in its runtime. It's best approached with the knowledge that it will be a slow and sometimes brutal listen, but I think that's what the band looked to accomplish. The pace of this makes the best moments have more gravitas than they initially would had you not had to work for it. ILION is a long, sometimes boring, but very rewarding listen.
Holy fuck I'm about to blow this is really just banger after banger, line 'em up and knock 'em down Jeff Tweedy this is incredible
Proto-metal? Yes. Blues/hard rock? Yes. Actually metal? No. Regardless of arbitrary categorization, this is everything you could possibly want out of an album with its magnitude and cultural relevance
I didn't realize it at the time, but this album would impact me on a deeper level than any other album could ever muster. Over half a year since I first listened to this in full. I now believe without a doubt that this album is a 100/100. This album is the perfect slow burn, even today it feels like I unpack new layers to this album, even though I've easily listened to this in full over 100 times. There's something about this album to me that's so much more than the sum of its parts, this is ... read more
This kept growing on me for a long time after I first heard it. The chorus of Dreamer kinda pisses me off but everything else is collectively some of prog's and Supertramp's best.
Edit: (72 -> 94) — Not quite sure what happened in the last seven months but this has become one of my favorite indie albums upon revisiting. Super well-rounded with some of the best songs I've ever heard scattered around. I listened this first before my big indie rock phase so revisiting this I suppose I'm able to enjoy it for what it is. My kinda weird voice tolerance has also increased considerably since October.
This album is solid but then for the first nine tracks but ... read more
I don't review live albums but I figured it was worth mentioning how incredible this is
I used to put BÖC into the boat as KISS and other hard rock gimmick goblins and never really gave them any consideration past (Don't Fear) the Reaper but they've managed to thoroughly turn my previous inclinations inside out. This is one of the most fun and technically proficient albums of all time. I know this is an overused cliché on this site but this does not seem 50 years old at all. This continues to blow me away every time I revisit it.

It is almost unbelievable how good this album is. There is not a single dull moment at any point on this album. And while not every song can rival the title track, it certainly doesn't get much worse than perfect. Hard to imagine an album more well-rounded than this. Crazy that he made this while basically dead, really.
I'll separate this review by positives vs. negatives because I think that's a fair way to tackle this... thing. I struggle to call it an album. I almost never make reviews this long so bear with me here.
Positives:
- As a dedicated Obscured by Clouds fan, I liked the interpolation of the Free Four lyrics present in Speak to Me / Breathe.
- The instrumentation is passable, especially the new string arrangements, which may be the biggest positive to take away from this. The instrumentation can ... read more
Blue Öyster Cult's eponymous debut showcases some of the band's best tendencies. Transmaniacon MC remains my favorite BÖC song.
untitled 05 and 08 had no business being relegated to a b-side compilation release
The album is good but the first three tracks are so good that listening to the rest of the album is like a slow death in comparison. Still enjoyable though because it's The Alan Parsons Project and they're allergic to making bad music.
This is it guys, we've reached the pinnacle of Led Zeppelin's musical career. This album shows the band reaching their full potential. This obviously includes a bunch of the classic Zeppelin hard rock sound, but also explores some of their most psychedelic and experimental sides. Songs like Over the Hills and Far Away and No Quarter show a side to Led Zeppelin that they had never fully explored before, and they bring their best musically and conceptually on these.

Usually hard for me to really get into first wave Post-Punk but this clears that mental gap with room to spare. This is as good as a genre can possibly get.
